Summary

The story is set in a world where humans and vicious species, known as ghouls, creatures that look like normal people but can only survive by eating human flesh, live among the human population in secrecy.

Yuno's Review

The TV Show has set a hefty standard of how good, dark and grotesque anime can ever get. Don't let an underwhelming Season Three and a Semi Decent Season Two deter you away from the series; this is the pinnacle of the anime genre.

Season 1 and 4 are rich with dark and horrific visuals, refusing to hide anything behind lame censorship. A coherent plotline that strongly comes together to deliver some really strong real world messages amid the slew of metaphors that asks us questions. Questions like - Why are people two layered? Why are people different at the surface and different within? Why and what do we hide within each other? This show is as much of a visual delight as it is a thought provoking masterpiece brought to you by a now renown studio.

The music, visuals and voice acting are strong and carry significant heft for anyone willing to peel the multi layered meaning and set up the ambience of this visual and auditory adventure. The direction is top draw and the show seems to be closely represented in the manga.
