Hello...

I am in the process of replacing my ten years old system, that has some issues.

My budget is around $1.5K, the system will be used for office work and related applications. The monitor (32" BENQ), USB keyboard/mouse stay and will be used in the new system. The OS will be W10 and the system will not be overclocked.

The proposed system specification:

Antec Performance Series P7 Neo
CORSAIR RM650 650 W ATX 80 PLUS GOLD
GIGABYTE Z790 AORUS ELITE AX LGA 1700
Intel Core i5-13600K
Noctua NH-D9L, with NF-A9 92mm Fan
Crucial 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR5 4800 (PC5 38400)
SAMSUNG 980 PRO M.2 2280 1TB PCI-Express Gen 4.0 x4 (x2)

From the get go, there's no plan to use the system for gaming, but that might change in the near future. In which case a video card and more memory will be added.

Any advice would be appriciated... TIA

I personally (for your needs) wouldn't spend money on a newer board & DDR5 ram, that being said, I'd stick with DDR4 and an older generation CPU. You instantly save a chunk of money by doing so, or you can then spend that money elsewhere.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor (£227.15 @ Amazon UK)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler (£64.98 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard (£144.99 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory (£90.99 @ Corsair UK)
Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (£184.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Corsair iCUE 4000X RGB ATX Mid Tower Case (£124.99 @ Amazon UK)
Power Supply: Corsair RM750x (2021) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (£89.99 @ Scan.co.uk)
Case Fan: Corsair iCUE SP120 RGB ELITE 47.7 CFM 120 mm Fans 3-Pack (£52.99 @ AWD-IT)
Total: £981.07

That would be my personal choice of parts. In total it comes to $1,163.18 leaving you with $400ish if you wish to later down the line game, giving you the option to purchase a GPU (buy a second hand one, retail prices are crazy).

As mentioned, you're with DDR4 ram here and an AM4 chipset which is the previous generations, however, it's still very capable of everyday needs and gaming. I also believe this build would be better in respect that if you later decide to start gaming, you would be able to enter gaming with a somewhat older graphics card if you wish and you would not be bottle necking as much as you would with the i5-13600K - thus not needing to then spend even more on a better GPU. I'd also mention the power supply may be pushing it depending on what GPU you go for if you start gaming - anything above a 3070, I'd want more than a 650w for safe keeping personally.

Overall, either machines would be more than capable for your needs and both open to being perfectly capable for gaming down the line when you wish to do so.
