| So I plan on building a PC as some of my friends are moving over and it has wayyy more games than my XBox does... plus, I could actually get mods to make serious games stupid... anyways. I plan on keeping the build under $2,500 and want to be able to host a private ARK server with as little issue as possible. Mostly plan on FPS, a few Assassins Creed games, a couple of indie games, and maybe streaming. Streaming is the lowest priority I have though. I do have a (limited) knowledge of parts and what does what, whats good and what isn't, but need advice on if my current build sheet is any good. From micro-center: [Minimum post requirement for links] . Now, some of may say "but Junkers, there isn't a case!" to which I would say "very astute observation, friendo. But I don't need a case, as I plan on building my own wallmount board, something that looks like this: [Minimum post requirement for links] . Monitor is included, obviously, along with keyboard, mouse, and the OS. I don't PLAN on overclocking, but who knows what the future holds, right? Basically, I just need yall to tell me 1- whether or not its even a decent build with the set price, 2- anything I should add/take away, 3- and any other advice you can think of. Any and every bit of advice given is more than welcome. |

Good luck building out this PC!
I suggest an Intel based system. Keep the peripherals you selected. I can't really suggest different peripherals as those are subjective. Build List (PC Part Picker / Amazon links) Intel i7 12700k CPU MSI Pro Z690-A WiFi Motherboard Arctic Freezer II 360mm CLC Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut 1g GSkill Trident Z RGB 32GB (2x16) 3200 DDR4 RAM Western Digital Blue NVME 500GB Boot Drive Western Digital Blue NVME 1TB Game Drive EVGA SuperNova 750w Gold Fully Modular PSU PLUS your selected peripherals, this comes out to about $1,650 before taxes, a graphics card, or Operating System. There are cheaper ways to get Win10 out there. Maybe you'll need larger capacity storage. Depends on your use case. The 3060 Ti you selected isn't a horrendous deal given what they're listed for on eBay. Shoot high or low on a graphics card, you've got the budget room for it. You could also step up to a 12900k for the absolute top of the line blistering performance, but odds are it isn't absolutely necessary. I'd sooner suggest a second monitor or something. The biggest issue I see is that you plan on running a 5800x and 3060ti with only a single hard drive.
Don't put all this money into a system and only give it a hard drive. Flash storage is so cheap these days. A hard drive isn't a horrible idea for mass storage, especially if your internet isn't great and redownloading games is burdensome. But you'll absolutely notice it slowing things down on a system like this. At the very least grab a small NVMe (if B550 supports it, I have no idea) or at the very least a sata SSD to boot off of. I also personally think the 5800x is overkill for a 3060ti. I run a 5600x and a 3070 with a fairly aggressive OC and I've yet to encounter a CPU bottleneck. I'm also unsure of the 650W PSU, seems like it might come in on the lower end of what you'll be needing if you keep the 5800x and 3060ti, just something to watch out for.
