I just started the game and went with prisoner but I am thinking of restarting with Astrologer since I am only two bosses in at the moment.

Any tips on what gear to go for? I've never played a game like this but I am really enjoying it and the challenge. I am unsure what spells are good too so if anyone could help me out, that'd be great!

Looking forward to getting further in the game.

Currently level 94 / 28 hours played
Str/Dex quality build running bloodhounds fang currently.


Been taking my time clearing out the areas, games awesome though. I thoroughly enjoyed previous from titles and this one does not disappoint!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this but in my opinion armor in this game is only useful to high poise builds. Only a handful amount of equips actually give buffs and the 'buffs' aren't really game changing. You can just find clothes that suit your characters aesthetic which is nice.

So in terms of equips you can build whatever you want as long as your weight is medium load to light load.

As far as weapons/wands/staves go for mage builds you'll want to prioritize high int first. Most if not all spells, require high int/low arc whereas incantations require high faith/low arc. There are weapons in the game that also scale off of int too and the game is very forgiving with its respec system. You could really just find a build that suits your playstyle and if you'd like to try something different you can always change it later.

You'll find good spells as you progress throughout the game but the most over power spell right now is called 'Azure Comet' I believe but to make it overpowered you need certain items that compliment it.

This helps a lot thanks, I didn't know that armor didn't have much of an impact so I will probably just go with something I like.

I started watching a guide on youtube of how to start as an astrologer and where to get good stuff, I got the meteorite staff and rock sling which works pretty well with most bosses and a few other spells. I am in the process of trying to get lorettas greatbow and that other spell that is like carian slicer but a longer sword lol.

Such a good game, I've never played anything like it so the whole experience is really making it one of my favorite games of all time.

Shes a decently easy boss but possibly my favorite. The arena is by far my favorite.
