some honest criticism.

I don't really know what i am looking at.

Too noisy - main complaint
  • Not sure what you're using to edit or animate with but the overall quality is extremely noise filled. The sweeping light could've been done in AE and exported to GIF for a much cleaner sharper result.
  • it could just be me not knowing but what is with the random white pencil scratch?
  • a tip if you're using AE or photoshop. There are much better ways to make bevels using curves and levels over the bevel channel modifier.
  • increase the project size so the quality isn't trash like this next time, use vectored text or objects to avoid the noise when scaling up. 270x270 isn't really a recognized standard either. 256x would've been fine. Next time start your project in ~1000x and scale down after you have what you desire.

Likewise if you're JUST starting out this isn't that bad i suppose.

EDIT: will update this in a little while with beveling examples.

Above is a simple example of how to correctly bevel in photoshop/AE using inner glow. This method works well when masking.

mess around with mattes and alpha channels some and you get this.

Finally swap fuse the matte to the alpha and boom: bevel

FOR REFERENCE YOU CAN ADJUST THE BEVEL.

well, I was trying to make it as a ttg avatar messing around. But I could never get anything to compress to 100kb so I kept going smaller and smaller it looked terrible in after effects very pixilated. I couldn't fix it the random lines from an effect I guess it didn't trace right. I exported it through media encoder as a gif also tried to make something in illustrator and put it in after effects but it was still pixilated bad.
thank you for your comment very helpful btw.
