CD Project Red and Netflix announced that they will be premiering Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in 2022, and they'll be working on it with the highly-acclaimed animation company, Studio Trigger, who you may already know from their work on Kill la Kill.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, as quoted by Saya Elder, the Japan-based producer for the series, will be "a standalone story set in the same universe. The stage is still Night City, but everything else is totally new. New characters, new story". It was further stated on Cyberpunk 2077's site that the anime tells a 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. Having everything to lose, he chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner--a mercenary outlaw also known as a cyberpunk. Check out the announcement video for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners below!
