Definitely not. It's been tested not even a year. Not fda approved & people who are vaccinated are still getting Covid & dying. I'm all for being safe & doing what's right but getting injected with some shit they brewed up in 7 months. No thanks. The second they came out with that vaccine is the same day I started stocking ammo.

Arnold's comment sums it up perfectly.
"It's simple: if your house in on fire, you don't go on YouTube, you call the damn fire department. If you have a heart attack, you don't check your Facebook group, you call an ambulance. If 9 doctors tell you you have cancer and need to treat it or you will die, and 1 doctor says the cancer will disappear, you should always side with the 9. In this case, virtually all of the real experts around the world are telling us the vaccine is safe and some people on Facebook are saying it isn't."

Love how people read a couple of online articles then believe they have more knowledge than scientists that have devoted their whole life to that field. Stop pretending to be a know-it-all and take the vaccine before you regret it.

Yes and have had both, so what if it gives my kids 10 years from now six fingers and both genitals. I'd rather have it than be a bush did 9/11 type of guy.

Wanted to make a response regarding fears with the most popular covid vaccines being administered in the West (Specifically US as I work/live there). Sincerely trying to answer some questions or provide some viewpoints from someone that has worked in the medical field. For reference my background is being TTG's unofficial doctor for asking stupid medical questions in the shoutbox, my education is in Biomedical Engineering and Medicine, with a focus in biomechanics and published work in drug delivery for cancer immunotherapy and vaccines. I work in the medical research and device development field, the last 18 months I've largely helped design enclosed drug delivery systems, ventilators, and conducted pharmaceutical research into immunosuppressive drugs that (hopefully) reduce the need for those ventilators. I'll skip around the various vaccines but I'll try and reference which ones I'm referring to in each section. I legitimately am trying to answer what I see as common hesitancies and fears with the 3 FDA approved vaccines. There has been a huge disinformation campaign launched across social media and corporate news networks and these lies are quite literally helping kill many loved ones.

You can get the vaccine and still get covid, what's the point?
Yes, no Vaccine has an efficacy rate of 100% (I.E complete immunity). BNT162b2 mRNA (Pfizer) has shown consistently to test into the 90-99% efficacy rate. For reference the average seasonal flu shot has an efficacy of 40-60% (cdc.gov/flu/vaccines-work/vaccineeffect.htm). The most effective Malaria vaccine, RTS,S/AS01, has a tested rate of approx 56% efficacy and it's changing the world (thelancet.com/journals/lancet/art.../fulltext).

No Vaccine gives you 100% immunity against the intended illness. A Covid vaccine was never expected to provide 100% immunity against covid or it's variants. The goal of a vaccine is to essentially avoid a large enough number of cases that society is essentially able to "outlive" the illness. Vaccines are the reason the average age of death is no longer 40, and why the child mortality rate has plummeted in the US over the past two centuries. For reference in 1800 for every 1,000 children born, an average of 46% would not live to see their fifth birthday.

Any of the 3 FDA approved vaccines DRASTICALLY lower your risk of hospitalization and death due to covid. The goal unfortunately cannot be complete immunity, however being vaccinated greatly decreases your chance of danger and transmission for covid. So far none of the observed variants, despite the media's best attempts to fear monger, have shown to be considerably more dangerous than the OG 420 kush Covid. However the issue that will arise is if a variant that is resistant to treatment develops due to unvaccinated people continuing to push the numbers on transmission and mutation.

You can still die despite being vaccinated?
Correct, as explained above you can still contract Covid-19 and carry it despite being vaccinated. However the vaccine incredibly increases the ability of your body to fight the virus if contracted. A positive covid-19 test while being fully vaccinated is considered a "breakthrough case". As of August 9th of this year the CDC has received a reported 8,054 breakthrough cases of covid-19. 166 million people in the United States have been fully vaccinated as of 8/9 as well (cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/health-...ases.html). This comes out to a 0.0048% chance (quick napkin math) of hospitalization if you are fully vaccinated (This number is an aggregation of all age groups though, so it varies depending on age group and health history). Compared to a 0.77% chance of hospitalization while unvaccinated (Again, varies by age this is just an aggregate) (nature.com/articles/s41598-021-84603-0).

The overwhelming majority of covid hospitalizations in the US (I would assume worldwide as well) are unvaccinated individuals. If you'd like to see the state-by-state breakdown: kff.org/policy-watch/covid-19-vac...he-states/ But for reference, approx 96-99.8% of all covid hospitalizations and deaths are in people that have received no dose of any of the 3 FDA approved vaccines.

This is new untested technology (And general mRNA worries):
To start, the "new" technology in reference to the vaccine is the implementation of mRNA technology in vaccine delivery and efficacy. A traditional Vaccine, typically referred to as a Live Attenuated vaccines, works by introducing a weakened version of the antigen in order to trigger an immune response in your body. The weakened version of these antigens that are introduced via a traditional vaccine are harmless. mRNA vaccines work by essentially transmitting a blueprint for spike proteins specific to the covid-19 infection. These proteins are then used as punching bags by our body to practice breaking down the proteins, producing T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes that are trained to fight the illness.

Think of it like you're training a dodgeball team for a big tournament, so to practice you bring out a bunch of handicapped 3 year olds to practice your throws at.

mRNA vaccines do not effect your "genetic code" or your DNA in any way. They do not make you impotent, nor do they in any way weaken you genetically. Study from Nebraska Medicine shows that the 3 FDA approved mRNA Covid vaccines work outside of the nucleus, and in no way interact or alter your genetic makeup: nebraskamed.com/COVID/you-asked-w...-human-dna

What makes mRNA vaccines so neat is that essentially any traditional illness that your body can come down with is due to a cause of either too much or too little of a protein. Their biggest challenge is stabilization, requiring low temperatures and expensive storage.

The technology is fairly new however it has proven to be much more effective and safer than traditional vaccines in thousands of clinical studies done on humans and animals. mRNA is absolutely a game changer for immunology moving forward. If liked I can link some of these studies and give my interpretations of the results

I'm young and healthy I'll be fine
The majority of the members on TTG are 16-24 year old males. This is one of the safest groups danger wise when it comes to covid. I'm 27 but I'll lump myself in that group as well, the overwhelming majority of people will recover from covid just fine without any serious ailments. However the "at risk" groups (Ages 65+, high blood pressure, immunocompromised, diabetics, basically a huge mount of americans honestly) will continue to die out in frightening amounts until we are able to get a better handle on outbreaks and transmission/mutation. Even though will most likely be completely fine, our grandparents, overweight dads, diabetic aunts, cancer riddled cousins, etc, will continue to be at danger. While I don't have any exact data I want to make a point with here, personally I do find it to be fairly selfish of many people my age to avoid vaccination while increasing the danger posed to their at risk loved ones.

The US has been incredibly fortunate (Basically the fed poured money into the research for these vaccines, something like 70% off all covid vaccine research was done with our tax dollars here in the US) to have an influx of vaccine availability free of charge for all residents. Approx 57% of all US adults have been fully vaccinated in some way against covid-19 and the known variants. However, due to our abundance of vaccine availability essentially everyone that is eligible for the vaccine has already received it. This means that the final approx ~40% are unvaccinated as they do not wish to get the shot. Chipping away at this final % in order to best protect our country from covid is going to be incredibly difficult (mayoclinic.org/coronavirus-covid-...e-tracker).

I read/heard from Doctor X that says the vaccine is dangerous

Unfortunately not all doctors are of "high standard" in the US. The overwhelming majority of MD/DO's are in support of vaccination. You also have many different specialties in medicine, an Orthopedic Surgeon and Optometrist likely had very similar medical schooling experiences, but each one is very specialized in their given discipline. Your family physician and neurosurgeon likely went to very similar medical schools, however I wouldn't want my family doctor performing brain surgery on me. Doctors like Senator Rand Paul have gained some popularity/notoriety in the past year for pushing anti-vax viewpoints. However Rand Paul is a Optometrist, not an immunologist. His opinions on the matter should weigh much less heavily than an established disease research and treatment specialist. The overwhelming majority of these doctors coming out against the vaccine are non-specialized doctors or ones that have not participated in research and clinical phases of these drugs. I would not really care much for what my high school gym teacher has to say about olympic track and field events

I've recovered from covid I don't need to get vaccinated
People who have successfully recovered from covid do show varying levels of antibody resistance to covid. Hence why people who have recovered are at a smaller chance (For a short period) of transmitting covid. (nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-...y-covid-19) Essentially recovering from a covid infection leaves your body better trained to fight off and survive the illness. However these levels of resistance vary wildly across different demographics and patient groups, and this immunity is much less consistent than in fully vaccinated folk. Think of it like a 45% effective vaccine vs a 95% one. I am still pro-vax in this situation, however recovering from covid looks to give you anywhere from a 1 to 8 month increased resistance.

Not going to get into mask mandates (imo local and federal governments dropped the ball hard on mask flip flopping. I'm pro-mask wearing in crowded public spaces while covid continues to run wild however it's incredibly lame how governance and organizations have continued to flip flop on mask information and laws.), vaccine passports, etc as those are more cultural/political issues than hard science. I will say that typical masks are not intended for keep the virus out but more for helping asymptomatic carriers from infection others. Wearing a mask everywhere you go is tiring, it's 100% valid to feel exhausted, frustrated, and apathetic after the last 18 months.

I don't really expect to change anyone's minds on TTG but I wanted to try and answer some fairly common questions regarding the vaccine. I really don't feel like arguing with anyone so if you disagree that's fine but I hope you'll give my above answers a fair shake and thought. If anyone has specific vaccine related questions I'm happy to try and answer and/or point towards some clinical studies that might provide an answer.

I'll add to this if I think of any relevant info

I get my second shot tomorrow. First shot was fine all I got was a headache. I only got it because i have a toddler at home. And not every vaccine is 100% effective, the covid vaccine is to reduce symptoms if you do get it. Everyone's bodies react different to these kinds of things..
