Just wondering what's a reasonably priced RGH to start out with. I have some familiarity of consoles however just wondering what I should be looking for in regards to an RGH i will mostly use for casual fun.

RGH trinity was the one I had so there's no RROD
it was personally my favorite I spent about $250 for mine with the power brick and stuff jaspers are also pretty decent consoles but the slim RGHS are the best in my opinion

Nowadays you can find a well built one anywhere between 80-200 usd, limited editions would probably run you a bit more. Make sure to buy from reputable sellers because if you don't you can run into problems longer down the road like slower boot times, temp problems and etc.

If you already have a retail console one that isn't modded cheapest way is to send yours to a professional and they can mod your console

As for buying one I have a few left that I am looking to sell at a resonable price
