Hi so before I put some things together I wanted to check with you guys to make sure there's nothing else I need and everything will work. I started this build when Valorant just came out and I thought I'd love the game, oh to my dismay. I'd like to get it done asap so I can send rental back and because I use it for work, your help is greatly appreciated. When I got the mobo I was told to flash the bios to it, I'm just wondering if there's anything else I need aside from a usb drive to download it onto and into the motherboard. Once I can afford an RTX for a different build it'll go to some full-send Valorant shmuck and I'll have my 2k build ready for battle. I'm basically swapping the mobo/cpu and adding ram and a better psu than I have in my current build:

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz, Intel64 Family 6 Model 94 Stepping 3

Processor Count: 4

RAM: 8144 Mb

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070ti

Hard Drives: C: Total - 228433 MB, Free - 52057 MB; F: Total - 953866 MB, Free - 949292 MB;

Motherboard: ASRock, Z170 Pro4S

PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 B2

Getting some major throttling with the old cpu. Here's the new build with some of those parts:

Do you think I can get away with the 750 I currently have or should I go with something else? I'm trying to buy a Tesla in full.

Edit: I'm actually looking at this one now because it's recommended for the Ryzen 5:

Looks fine, and yes BIOS update is all you'll need. Although, I'd probably just spend the extra $10 and just get this mobo instead;

No need for BIOS update.

Current PSU is absolutely fine for this system. 750W is waaayyy overkill. If you upgrade PSU, you don't need 750W, or anywhere close to 750W.. so it's better to focus on getting a better quality PSU as an upgrade, rather than unnecessarily high wattage. A good quality gold rated 550-650W PSU should be $90-100 and still far more than enough wattage.

Well I've had the B450, you see I'm trying to save for a Tesla Model X to be paid in full.

Ya I decided against that PSU because it was for the build I won't be able to afford for a bit. My major concern is adequate power to keep my parts healthy. I can't remember but someone said to go to a gold psu because of well... what I can't remember.

Edit: oh you actually answered my concern on the psu
