My PC has been hard crashing (power off, no warning) with certain games (listed below in Fig 1) after I added an RTX 3080 Founders Edition to my build. I have looked at windows logs, shown in Fig 2 below. They seem to indicate that it had something to do with Kernel Power. I was also concerned about temperature since the blower design of the RTX 3080 Founders Edition blows hot air straight at my CPU and also since the crashes are not consistent (sometimes I can play hours without a crash, other times games crash multiple times a night). Does anyone know if I can prove outright that these crashes are to do with my PSU?
I don't want to buy a new PSU unless I have to. My Current one is 750W which according to an online Wattage Calculator ( newegg.com/tools/power-supply-calculator/ ) should have enough power to drive what I have. I have included a list of my full Specs in Fig 3. I have also included things I have tried (unsuccessfully) in order to resolve the issue in Fig 4. | Total shot in the dark here. You mentioned that you updated and did a fresh install of the Nvidia drivers. Did you uninstall the previous ones from whatever card you had prior? If you haven't performed an uninstall on those drivers, I would suggest using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU). |
