Which i7 you rocking?

I'd suggest upgrading to DDR4 RAM and an SSD to initially improve performance.

Gaming wise I'd Wack in a 3000 series card.

What you can upgrade to is solely dependent on your budget

The hardware you've got on you is so outdated, it'll be benifical to start again.

You definatly do have a budget however, if you have a botomless wallet, I'd reccomend a fresh system from scratch.

If you want to upgrade this one slowly, I'd do -
Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Storage

All at once and then once you work out if you fancy gaming on it -
GPU
PSU
Case

What's your plans for this system?

What monitor(s) are you using with the system?

What are you looking to do with the system exactly? What is your system currently not doing, or not doing well enough that you would like it to? Better performance in games? If so, what games?

What is your budget and currency?

Also, what is the make and model of your case and PSU?
