Start my new job tomorrow as a bricklayers labourer and i'm pretty excited i'm ngl as well as nervous just wondering if i could get some advice so i can make a good impression and i'm 17 as well so i'm fully getting ready to get taken the piss out of lol especially here in the uk they will test the waters with me haha.

i have experience labouring for a tiler but not a bricklayer so i know it's gonna be a bit more of a challenge.

are any of you in the construction trade? if so what you in i'm always interested in seeing what trades people do.

Just always listen to what they tell you. You know me, I'm no bricklayer. I'm a roofer haha. I've taken the piss a couple of times with new starters. Like sending them for a sprit level bubble. Never gets old.
Labouring for a brickie isn't a bad move and it's good for the long run. It's just hard graft! But in time you'll get use to it. Be prepared for back problems and really cold weather, although you can't lay bricks in below 2c I believe.

Good luck with the job mate.

Bricklaying is actually pretty cool, but quite hard work some times. On,y done it for a year and ended up quitting because I am lazy af and hated being there personal mixer lmao. As long as you can get through that stage you should be good to go. Another one, if they send you to the shop for some spirit bubbles, ignore them xD

Just run with it and don't take anything brickies say seriously, i know hod carriers that make a fortune £160+ a day.

It's a graft but hopefully you get rewarded for it.

I've talked to veteran bricklayers who have been doing it for 30+ years and their knees are shit and their back is well completely screwed by the end of their career but they love bricklaying! It's gonna be very physically demanding and if you're ready for that and ready to learn? You'll have no issues climbing the ladders man!

As for advice to prepare you for the job, I mean just being on time or early every morning and showing you want to learn this job will make them see you're interested. Just go in there willing to learn and have some thick skin cause it won't be easy!

Wish I was 17 again (im 22 nearly), I would suggest listen to what they have to say and do what they tell you to, if they take the mick laugh and show you can have a laugh also dont go on your phone unless they allow you to (like on your break) and if you find yourself standing around always ask if there's any thing they want you to do.
