Trying to find ways to clear my head been dealing with a lot recently and someone mentioned mediating, never done it or even looked nothing up about it.

I'm guessing it's not just sit there and be silent for a few minutes so any tips for someone who has never meditated before would be helpful or any websites that are good for information about it thanks.

Or even suggest ways to take my mind off things, what do you do to clear your mind?

Focus only on your breathing

The most basic way to do mindful breathing is simply to focus your attention on your breath, the inhale and exhale. You can do this while standing, but ideally you'll be sitting or even lying in a comfortable position. Your eyes may be open or closed, but you may find it easier to maintain your focus if you close your eyes. It can help to set aside a designated time for this exercise, but it can also help to practice it when you're feeling particularly stressed or anxious. Experts believe a regular practice of mindful breathing can make it easier to do it in difficult situations.

I have used the headspace app in the past. When I used it everything was free, so I hope that's still the case. Sorry to hear you're going through some stuff right now. I have an anxiety disorder so I have used it to ground myself and frame things in a better way. Exercising is another good way to help take your mind off things. Just force yourself to exercise for an hour, and you'll never regret it afterwards. Uhh one last thing is music! Music will always have your back:) it's crazy how sounds in a certain order can change the way we feel so much!

Good luck man, I believe in you!

"I'm guessing it's not just sit there and be silent for a few minutes"

Sometimes it really is just that simple.

it's better to meditate in total silence. Don't listen to music. Don't have the TV going. Don't have a youtube video running. Absolute silence. The reason for this is that every noise causes a reverberating perception that only worsens as you move into the altered states of consciousness.

It depends what you're looking for. If you just want to relax the mind and body, focus on your breathing every so often. Let your mind roam, but bring it back by focusing on the inhale and exhale for a few sets. When doing this, try to be aware of different segments of your body. Focus on your jaw, is it tense? Relaxed? Etc. If it's tense, take a deep breathe and on the exhale, just let it relax. Repeat this for the shoulders, chest, stomach, pelvis, legs, feet, hands, neck, etc. I typically sit in meditation like this until I'm fully relaxed and sitting upright. Or 20-30min.

If you want to sleep better, do it 30min before bed and stay off your phone. Focus on your breathing and try to clear your mind. Whenever you have a thought, put it away, in a "filing cabinet" in your mind. Just relax your mind and let this happen for 20-30min. Definitely will help.

Another level is Transcendental Meditation which is where you use a specific mantra that helps you quite literally transcend your mind into a space that's pure bliss. David Lynch is a fantastic person to look up if you're considering it. Everyone's mantra is different and I can't help you out much with it. But this version is fantastic for creativity, relaxation, focus, just about everything you could use a boost in. You can also successfully do it within just a few minutes, even in loud areas. Great practice to learn bro.

Hope I helped you in at least one way Enjoy

Relaxing isn't about going to the seaside and having chai tea, it's where you are at your comfiest. At first, loads of thoughts will go through your mind, this will pass. Once you get to the "bored" phase, try focus the bliss in the silence. No overpowering thoughts, you can choose to sleep as well! - one last thing, if your lactose intolerant, don't think it's just a fart.
