Competitive Seasons, Competitive Tournaments, and Rocket Pass will all follow the same schedule. On the new season 1, all 3 mentioned will start as well as end on the same dates opposed to having their own timelines. New Competitive Ranks Grand Champion will be split into three different Ranks just like the ranks below it. Grand Champion will be split into Grand Champion 1, Grand Champion 2, and Grand Champion 3. The new highest competitive rank is Supersonic Legend. "Changes aren't only happening at the top. We're working to soft reset the rest of the ranks to account for incoming players picking up Rocket League for the first time. This means Ranks will shift closer to the median Rank (close to Gold III). For instance, when current Bronze players complete their placement matches, they may be placed in a higher rank since they'll be better than new players who are just starting out." Yes. This most likely means gold will shoot up to plat, plat to diamond, and so forth! "There's also a new requirement to unlock Ranked Playlists. Players will have to be Level 10 in order to play Ranked." This will sort of help combat the smurfing in ranked New Quick Chats Faking. Bumping! On your left. On your right. Passing! Extra News ~Merc is getting a new, unique hitbox, for a total of six hitbox types ~New bot difficulty under Rookie ~Solo Standard Playlist will be removed following Competitive Season 14 ~Default settings are changing for incoming players. Voice Chat will be disabled by default, and L2 (PS4), LT (Xbox), ZL (Switch) will default to Air Roll. (YUCK) ~Rocket ID Will Become Epic Friends ~Heatseeker will be playable in private matches New Player Experience There will be a new experience for new players when they first fire up the game. There will be a new tutorial that will put you right on the field and teach the basic HUD and button layout. New players will also have New Driver Challenges to unlock items that were included in the base version of Rocket League. I'm guessing this is the base cars and items we received when launching game for the first time. When Is The Update? Update will drop in the next few weeks around mid September. There is no set date I tried to cut out a lot of the extra stuff from the OG RL article that dropped today. I know I personally don't like all the extra wordage. L2 (PS4), LT (Xbox), ZL (Switch) will default to Air Roll. (YUCK) Yuck??? Having it on LT is way better since my finger is sitting there naturally versus having to move my thumb to X! Either way pretty cool changes, really wonder if ranked will be inflated now with F2P and the added GC ranks. |

Thanks for this post! I hadn't even read the official RL article when I saw this, so this was great. I can't believe how many things are changing with the new season. I am 1600 mmr right now, so I'm guessing I'd be around Grand Champ 2. I wonder if I'll be able to hit the new highest rank next season? I'm guessing that might be a bit hard for me.
Personally, I have my air roll on left bumper haha. Definitely better than the default x. I'm most excited to link my OG xbox account. I'll be able to use my original items and season rewards. Thanks for sharing this |
