Anyone know why my xbox one randomly disconnects from the internet all the time? It is wired and the ethernet i use works fine in my RGH and PC. It is random when it disconnects like it wont for an hour then does a few times in a row? It signs me out disconnects from the internet then reconnects straight away.

My console is in a DMZ and no other devices disconnect at the same time. I put it down to being booted as i normally get hit offline once a day but now it just does it randomly so it is not me being booted.

it's most likely someone booting you off when they see your Xbox account come online, do you have a dynamic ip or static? I'd suggest tying to get your ip changed or try hiding offline on your console..

You make some little kid mad? Lol

I have my settings blocking anyone from seeing my online status, I do not join parties either. It is not me being booted If i was being booted i would see the incoming packets in wireshark and i am not.

I make a lot of people mad that's why i normally get booted once a day. People just can't take someone being better then them at COD lmao. I get called a cheater most games and normally receive a lot of hate messages xD

I had nearly this exact same issue. About a week ago I switched my DNS from the automatic server provided by my ISP to Cloudflare's public free DNS (1.1.1.1 and 1.1.1.0) on my router and it seems to have resolved that issue with no repercussions on speed. Latency is ever so slightly slower, but otherwise it's corrected my disconnection issue since I made the switch.

Just saw this. So I suppose it was also your ISP screwing you like they did me. There are ways to check for potentially better DNS servers to maybe reduce your ping again.

Go here: code.google.com/archive/p/namebench/downloads and install whatever version of Namebench suits your OS.

You should see this screen when it extracts and opens:

Default settings should be fine, so you can click Start Benchmark and it will determine the fastest DNS servers based on your location. Don't be surprised if your ISP's DNS servers are the fastest, but we now know that they are unreliable. Take a look at the output list and see what other options there are in terms of speed. If Cloudflare is the second fastest, then you may just be stuck between Cloudflare or your ISP's DNS.

You could also pay for a DNS service, like Rage4 or Google Cloud DNS, which will almost definitely provide better performance than free public DNS. But you know.. paying.

I'll update this reply with my results once Namebench finishes its scan.

Just to jump in here - have you tried contacting the system admin / ISP to ask them about the DNS issue? I don't know how this situation works for you considering your location but - I mean there's a chance they don't even know anything is wrong with the server. Or if you make them aware YOU are aware of what is actually going on, throttle or whatever you're experiencing may stop. I used to be a tech for an ISP and shit like this happens way way above our heads basically automatically, but if you make someone aware of the issue there's a good chance they'd do you right and get it fixed.

But the way he's provided you here is a very adequate work around - if your speeds weren't great as it were hopping between DNS servers certainly won't effect much.

Switching to OpenDNS-2 would be your next best option, yes.

Edit: OP, re-reading your post here explains your network is on a DMZ? For Xbox it is crucial that your ip is set to static and you have manually set up your ip on the console. If it is not, this could be your immediate issue.

This is also good advice, especially if switching your DNS did in fact correct the disconnects, you could call your ISP and let them know the situation and maybe they could resolve it.

My issues started up right after I moved to a more heavily populated area, and the disconnects are a common problem among my neighbors and friends who live in my apartment complex. I'm guessing Spectrum has just oversold their network and I'd get some long-winded run around as to why things sometimes work and sometimes don't. However, if your issues suddenly popped up, it might be fixable by your ISP. Definitely worth a call at the very least.

And as 3CH said, your best bet looks to be OpenDNS-2.

I try to not contact my ISP for issues i have as not to be racist but you can't really understand them on the phone the call centres are all in india and they do not speak the best english. I will try to contact them when i get a spare few hours.

I will try the other DNS and see if its less laggy for me. My IP Address is static so it is not that causing the issues but thank you anyway.

@Fold The disconnects have been happening for a while i just barely use my xbox one now so i didn't really care but now its annoying me. A lot of people do use the same ISP as me as it is the best in my area so it could be overpopulated i guess.

EDIT: From the first tests it seems to be around the same ping as usual. Will update with more info when i test it more.

EDIT x2: I am no longer disconnecting and my connection is good enough to play on and not get too many ghost bullets i appreciate all the help. Thank you!
