Not a waste its just an entry into pc gaming. Is it on the cheap side hell yeah. But we all start somewhere with what we have.

yeah but you dont buy prebuilt as an entry lol

Many people buy a prebuilt as an entry, I can't agree with that method BUT many PC gamers don't have the capability of building their own rig and don't know enough to tackle it themselves from the beginning. If you build as an entry, you probably already have prior knowledge about PCs, a lot more than someone who's just trying to switch from console to PC. There's nothing wrong with overspending for convenience if you have the money.

dont have the capability??? not being rude but sentences like that are the reason so many people make mistakes when switching to pc. if you dont know how to do something then you what..? Learn, thats the way of life, we had to learn how to do things but the difference between that and building a pc is building a pc is easy. especially if its low budget, wont be any water cooling or vertical mounting in mini cases. i have built 4 PCs, all of which were very simple from watching videos on how to do so which id be happy to link the one i watched. after the first PC was built, the rest were so simple.

wasnt trying to be rude in any way but Pre built IS not the way to go. especially if youre going to upgrade later, all prebuilts get cheaped out on the PSU, ram, and case and motherboard typically. he would be overpaying by a longshot, i built a $440 pc that can easily run your daily games at good settings.

+1 If you dont know something learn. Knowledge is power built my first computer because of YouTube.

Okay. That's great for you and others capable. The guy clearly asked for prebuilt recommendations, telling him "duh dude learn what are stupid" isnt helping him. I understand, and so do most, that building them is something anyone can teach themselves.
But again for those with money, there is nothing wrong with paying for the convenience. Dogging on people who want to play on PC for buying a prebuilt instead of welcoming them to the community is one of the many reasons PC master race became a meme. I mean, just look at all of 21s replies in this section. Lol

im not making fun of him at all bud. im hitting him with the truth. idgaf if he buys prebuilt or builds a million of them, its his money, not mine. i was just giving him REAL ADVICE rather than letting him run into the many problems you face with prebuilt. you keep using the word "capable" if he can operate a mouse and keyboard then he can put a pc together. the pc master race gets "meme'd" because people are too helpless to try and learn something. not discussing this anymore lol. i gave useful advice

Pretty sure hes aware. No reason to get contentious. Just because something is simple for you doesn't mean it's simple for everyone. I'm sure hes appreciative of your input. Lol. Have a good one, J.

Keep it civil ladies. If OP wants to buy a pre-built, OP is going to buy a pre-built. It's their money to spend after all.
You both came to the same conclusion anyway, pre-builts are over-priced and use cheap/lackluster components to maximise profits, but it's OP's money to spend- so why argue the same point at each other?

I bought a prebuilt from ibuypower and it's terrible. I spent $1.1k 2 years ago for a 1060 3gb, i5 build. Graphics card crashes constantly, USB ports are loose, small storage drives. Just do yourself a favor and learn about PCs or just take someone else's build list and do it yourself. Like 21 said. They use cheap parts to maximize profits.

Hmmm..

Either way, everyone is allowed their own opinion, just keep it civil. Seems you both agree on the main points anyway. Let's just make sure not to derail this thread to much, and get OP the help he is looking for.

OP; On topic, I'd have to agree with pretty much everyone else, and like I already said, pre-builts are a waste of money. If you want to waste your money, that's fine, but I can't help much with pre-builts because I barely pay any attention to them whatsoever.
Your best bet for a pre-built is to find somewhere that will at least let you know the motherboard+PSU being used. Even better if they give you some options, so that you don't end up with a piece of shit useless PSU like most pre-builts. That said, for a £600 pre-built, you're looking at an R3 3100/3300X and if you're really lucky, a GTX 1660 Super. More likely a GTX 1650 Super though with that budget. You're also going to get a budget case, motherboard, and PSU, as well as most likely a pretty basic 500GB SSD with no HDD. So, I guess just google something like "R3 3100/3300X, GTX 1650/1660 Super" and see what you can find.

Just curios. What would £750 get my friend if he was to build it himself?

Request still stands, just need PC parts. Thanks
