There's this youtube video I just recently watched and it really got me thinking on this topic
youtube.com/watch?v=2sFrG02xpAw

Everything in it is 100% true, it feels like every game coming out nowadays is just half finished and the use of early access became so mainstream that the title just give's "developers" a free pass to release shit games.
(It's not the entire fault of the developers but also the corporate douchebag's above them who plays a large part in this).

In his video he labelled former great game developers like Valve and I for one am quite pissed on how shit came to be.

years before we were excited for the new game's coming out but now we're excited for update's to game's. I mean look at fortnite for example, even though the game get's meme'd and is the top game, it get's constantly updated which is great and yes, they do have a lot of money to work with but what about all these other companies?

The video I think is probablly one of the greatest thing's I've watched and I don't know how I didn't see it before.

I think within the next 5 year's we'll have a "return" of great game's but I sincerely doubt we'll have anything close to what the 360 and ps3 has.

Also while nostalgia plays a big part in the post I dont think its the deciding issue.

game's just suck now, Atleast so for console...
With PC you're able to play basically any game sadly we cant say the same about console.

While I think game's will make a comeback during this decade i doubt it will be the saem as said before, money is everything and as long as there's profit then companies dont give a shit unless their brand is at stake.

a great company which many ppl overlook was Overkill (Payday developers)
They actually gave away a fk ton of DLC to content creator's to give away.

So in turn of there being a shit ton of DLC's to buy you were able to go to any big stream on twitch and as long as you watched you had chances of winning DLC which I thought was nice.

reason i mentioned that is because Overkill took a good approach to releasing a shit ton of DLC, could be a good way to go if ur gonna release a lot anyways

I can't say I agree with this.. Games are better than they have ever been half finished or not. There is more content, options, availability, genres, than there has ever been in the industry. Can projects get rushed due to large oversight from companies and publishers with too much money and too many investors? Yeah, absolutely. But even those game when they come out are some of the better games even released. And there are PLENTY of godly developers right now that still take their time and release masterpieces of gaming. CDProjekt Red is a great example of this, and in the same breath people openly hate on them for delays. TW3 is one of the best games ever released, period. The breathtaking landscapes, the massive open world, the story telling.. But do you think gaming would *honestly* be better if every developer took 7-10 years per project? I think the correct word for the landscape of gaming right now is saturated, there's a lot more money and a lot more players than ever before. But you can still find amazing titles and developers. Even if it's not every title released.

Well you should expect for it to improve, thats certainly a given, technology improved and gaming became more of a norm then before.

While in the long run a game will have more content out, it take's forever.
For example when I was playing Pubg there were bugs in that game such as walking through walls and shit that lasted for nearly 8 months with no fix.

H1Z1 same shit, it went to the trash for many different reasons.

According to much of what I have seen (obviously its skewed because of the bias i have) an overwhelming number of people kind of got sick with how CoD went especially this new CoD not having prestige's and just overall loot boxes and crap.

Valve hasn't really produced game's, CSGO had a fk ton of bugs which many professional players complained about for the longest time ever.

---
Not saying every game is bad, but many big developers went a complete different route with how they're bringing out game's, everything is more focused on gaining money then before. Playing game's early on is bound to have a crap ton of bugs but having the same bugs for months on months is not appealing to gamers.

Im gonna bring up fortnite again. Fortnite constantly drops updates on updates and many bugs and shit gets fixed right away. They have money to do so obviously but other companies like bluehole had the cash also, PUBG was the biggest game on steam they were racking up cash but they couldn't fix all the game breaking bugs?

I agree with much of what you said but having a lot of content is kind of just expected since technology grew and more people are gaming now because it just became more of the norm to do so then before. I don't know about the 7 years part, game's taking 2 years imo is the max it should take to launch out the game.

While game's are launched out quicker now as I said with the PUBG situation, it was just a great idea but it was rushed out causing for very needed updates.

----
It's all perspective at the end of the day, there's also a lot of shit that goes on such as trends in the gaming scene.
I.e battle royale is in

I just realized I went in places with what I said but I just wrote down what came to mind.

I dont know why I put i agree with 100% of what The Act Man said, some games like Nexon Zombies I liked but that game was very very rushed, great concept once again but Valve just rushed it out for whatever reason (though it was free so who cares i guess)
