You're not "explaining" yourself. If you was layed off after the lockdown then they still have to pay you. Which is why I asked what country you're from. If you're unhappy with people asking questions then get off the site and fix it yourself


no, they don't have to pay you at all.

some places pay by government order up to 80% and also if you're self employed and ur tax code isn't before 2018 you get nothing... your point is no longer relevant as you also don't even know how long I was working for

taking note of all what I said above so wether ur full time or not, you don't have to be payed at all, my uncle works on butlins and them as a company are only paying him 26 hours a week and no holiday pay, but also if you're a new worker like myself, on a 0 hour contract, you can get layed of without any pay..


now stop, I didn't come on here to tell you my life story, it was to ask for a alternative... *why you got a big house without good internet* is what response I got pretty much lmao, how is that relevant I didn't need that to be said?


And there's your answer, 0 hour contact. Don't cry. You're as given choices of just buying the wire, which is the best way. Or move the modem around the house to find the best place. People did help

Alrighty, lets clean up this mess of a topic.

Ok, so networking isn't cheap and to get actually good gear, you're going to need money. If £25 is too much for you then I suggest saving up.

Cheapest solution would be to use Powerline Adapters. This isn't the perfect solution but it takes your homes inbuilt electrical cable work and uses that to transfer data to the next point. It's way more reliable that wifi adapters. Don't use them, they don't work and should be banished from earth.

Expensive solution would be to use a switch, access points and a proper router but we'll skip over that because... money.

Also, to the man being all passive aggressive by asking people to stop crying, why don't you provide useful advice with the information you got instead of being an ass.

Yeah I said stop crying because of the whines. He didn't want the wire so probably won't want this either. Think he was looking for a more super cheap or free solutions

Follow the advise from what Adam said.

Few questions you need to answer:
1. What is your maximum budget?
2. Have you checked Facebook/Ebay used market place, sure you could something cheap up there?
3. This 3 story house of yours, was it built with 3 storys or was there an extension? If there was an extension put on, powerline adaptors are gonna sh1t themselves unfortunately with what's called 'dirty electricity/energy'.
4. Instead of running a 'x' metre length RJ45 cable (ethernet cable) can you re-position the router upstairs and run a 'x' metre length RJ11 cable (DSL cable)? This should improve the wireless coverage.

Chin up about the 0 hour contract thing. Hit me hard when I used to work at Maccies just pushed me further to get a better more sustainable job. Here I am working in IT

thank you so so much for finally not siding just because a person is known and has rep. sorry this subject is gone now,but ive not been on here.

everybody would like stuff for 'free' but that's not realistic I just wondered if there was any other cheaper solution which was more beneficial for me that's all

Personally I agree that him asking about what country you were from wasn't his business but, I don't think he meant anything rude by asking so Im not sure why you are so upset with a response you have gotten from a "gaming/technology" site. But since you simply did come on here for help regarding your current WIFI situation I am sorry to say that you are quite limited to what you can do to improve your situation.

Current options could be:
    - Move your router to a more central location within the house to either improve your WIFI strength covering the area of your house or so that you can run a shorter ethernet cord through the house

    - Just accept that finding a way to run the cords through the house will produce the best results

    - Move the router into his room so that the house is still covered via WIFI while also allowing him to use ethernet

Simply put running the cord through the house will be the cheapest option while also getting the best results. Sadly any options regarding something that could bridge the gap through the house will be over your price range from what I've read

I hope this helps, and if you do manage to find something that works for your situation please let us know, Id love to hear what ended up working for you!
