Defo sounds heat related to me. Not ruling anything else out but that's where I'd go. Easiest way to test if it's a heat issue is let the computer turn off, unplug the power and just feel around for hot spots. Obvs, if your CPU is hot then it's that because your cooler wouldn't be doing it's job.

You don't by any chance have a liquid cooler on your CPU?


I don't see how its heat related he said he let it sit overnight and it still shows the same symptoms. You can run a CPU with no heatsink at all for a few seconds whereas his PC doesnt stay on for more than half a second.

Sounds like bad memory or motherboard to me.

Replace the PSU. That's PSU not mb or memory like others are saying.

How did you test the PSU? Definitely HAS to be PSU.

How did you test the PSU? Definitely HAS to be PSU.


Unless his PSU was shot with a .50 BMG it should still allow it to boot. Bad PSU is system instability leading to random power failure. While it could be the PSU I don't think its likely.

okay so i just went and bought a new motherboard, psu, cpu, and ram and a new case just to redo the whole pc and now it's not turning on. This is the first time i've built a pc so can anyone give me some tips on how to get it runnin

The problem is that your not replying to the god dam people who's giving you information that could potentially fix your pc. So instead you go out and buy another mother board

Well he said it doesn't even have a light anymore indicating there is not enough voltage to even power the LED. I've seen a lot of PSUs go bad it's actually very common. A lot of people cheap out on the PSU part of their build.
