Hi,

I am currently planning on building my first gaming PC so everything is still quite new to me.I have always been a console gamer but now would like to have a PC as well to open me up to other games not available on console. I am fairly technical so understand most things PC related once explained but despite researching pc building for a couple of weeks now, i still feel quite lost as to how much i need to spend to get what i would like. If someone could help me with the below questions i would really appreciate it and will also appreciate any other advice that you more seasoned PC gamers might have:

1. I was planning on spending around £700 on the gaming PC, I want to be able to run games at ultra or very high settings, is this possible?
2. Is it a lot more expensive to run at 1440p that 1080p with a good consistent FPS? i dont want to be running at 50fps for example
3. Is a curved screen worth the extra money and is 27" much better than 24"?
4. Advice on which parts to buy for all the key components (CPU/GPU/motherboard/RAM/SSD/HDD etc.)
5. Any other advice on any aspect of the build that you would advise

I really would appreciate any help anyone can give me as it is quite daunting having to organise the build for my first gaming PC without any real knowledge or guidance from anyone

FYI the PC is mainly going to be for gaming and will just be used for general internet browsing otherwise.

If i cannot get what i would like for the above budget, how much more would i need to spend to reach those specs?

Cheers

Depends what games and at what resolution.

Not necessarily, but it depends on your definition of "a lot".
1440p60Hz is little easier to run than 1080p144Hz.

jlobner96 wrote 3. Is a curved screen worth the extra money

Personal preference really.

jlobner96 wrote is 27" much better than 24"?

Depends on the resolution. 1080p? Definitely not. 1440p? Absolutely.

Depends on what monitor(s) you'll be pairing the system with, and what kind of games you'll be playing exactly.

Games i plan to be playing are mainly online games like battlefield V, other first person shooters and the occasional open world RPG. Will also be playing a fair few sims such as Football Manager and other simulators. Also plan on playing F1 2019 if possible?

With regards to the monitor im not really sure yet as i haven't bought the monitor yet and am sort of waiting to buy that after i know what the PC can handle. I dont want to buy a monitor and then realise that my PC can handle more and im wasting GPU on a crappy screen.

Ideally id like to be running a 27" curved monitor at 1440p with a consistently high FPS, how mcuh will i need to spend roughly on a PC to accomplish this if i was to build it myself?

Thanks

Depends what you mean by "high FPS". If you want a system to pair with a 1440p144Hz monitor, then I'd personally want to spend a bit more than £700 tbh. £700 system would be perfect for 1080p144Hz or 1440p60Hz though.

For a £700 system, I'd be looking at something like this probably;
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor (£154.98 @ CCL Computers)
Motherboard: ASRock B450 Steel Legend ATX AM4 Motherboard (£86.93 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory (£77.94 @ Aria PC)
Storage: Crucial BX500 960 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (£90.42 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB Phoenix OC Video Card (£193.47 @ Ebuyer)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG ATX Mid Tower Case (£54.53 @ Ebuyer)
Power Supply: Corsair CX (2017) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply (£47.99 @ AWD-IT)
Total: £706.26

and I would probably be most comfortable pairing this sort of system with a 1080p144Hz monitor. You'd be able to achieve beyond 60FPS @ 1440p in games like BFV though, so less demanding games you'll be able to get close to 100FPS @ 1440p. So, a 1440p144Hz monitor wouldn't really be a waste, and whenever you do upgrade GPU you'll be making much better use with a 1440p144Hz monitor.
