TaigaAisaka wrote This shit is actually getting unreal in terms of gun stores. My local gun store that I have been going to for years, was literally sold out of everything minus some grips, stocks and optical sights, that has never happened in all the years of threats to gun rights, ammo rights and accessories, never. They open at 10 AM, the normally close at 6PM, they locked the doors to "close" at 1PM today because they needed to do inventory. I called them to inquire if one of my guns I've been waiting to pickup had been delivered and they asked me if I wanted to consignment guns to their store so they can keep up with demand. I just got back from their store unloading some guns off, if they all sell, I will walk away with 9.3k USD -- and I put every gun that wasn't used $200 under MSRP, anything fired or heavily used I marked it $400-$700 under MSRP. Just from people mass buying guns this is like some twilight zone world. I live Commiefornia, like that alone blew my goddamn mind that this state is literally having a gun and ammo shortage, to the point that an FFL dealer ASKED ME, if I wanted to consignment some of my guns for their shop, given all the shit that comes from this state regarding guns.

Thats crazy man... i brought this up to my wife and she said she heard about this.. maybe not your store but in general peoe are worried about this... i have a small 9mm with about 300-400 FMJ rounds and a .22lr lol.. i wish I had a 12 Guage just for that ultimate home defense title but I'm 99.9% this will blow over before any weapons would actually be needed... hopefully atleast.

As stupid as it seems, from what I've heard is the influx of sales has been to mostly Asian-Americans who are feeling like they're at risk of violence because if you're Asian you "automatically have COVID-19/brought it over." Your 9mm will be good for now for home defense if need be. Once you do decide to upgrade to a shotgun or even a semi automatic rifle - there is ammo meant for semi automatic rifles that is to be used for home defense so you don't have to worry about over penetration into neighbour's houses - make sure you're prepared physically for if you have to use it. Firing a shotgun or a rifle in the house is going to damage anybody's hearing, so just keep that in the back of your mind. If your state allows it, try to get a shorter barrel for a shotgun/rifle so you can have easier movement around the room/halls. If you opt for a shotgun over a rifle, train your whole family on how to reload that thing properly. Buy dummy rounds for it and get used to reloading it quickly and without skipping a beat. Realistically the sound of a shotgun being pumped/racked is enough to send any intruder the hell away, but if you ever for some reason need to use more than is in the tube, whatever is on the sidesaddle, needs that muscle memory to do perfectly because you don't want to fumble that around. Rifles on the other hand are much easier to reload, especially in a situation where adrenaline is pumping.

@Sean. I suppose those N95's are serving you pretty well right about now, huh? God bless us all lol.

On a real note, I think we will be okay. The virus itself is not what I am worried about. Not for people that are young or middle aged. Elderly seems to be most at risk.

I dont k ow how to do the spoiler thing on my phone to hide all this text..

I love reading / hearing , the sound of racking a shotgun will scare off alot of people.. could you imagine, its silent and your tip toeing thru your house cause you got awoken by an intruder but now their being quiet so just dead silent... then you rack it and thats all both you hear its just so satisfying even thinking about it..their heart would sink so fast im sure you'd hear it hit the floor..

Jokes aside we both know this will probably not happen. Even if it does I don't think the wife would allow me to go purchase a shotgun at this time, she'd probably think im crazy... she's a RN so she already thinks everyone's over reacting.

I would love to one day get a list of everything that goes into building a rifle and find a website thats perfect for that and buy all the individual parts to my liking and build one myself. That way I can know the ins and outs of the rifle and feel good about putting it together.

Any who kinda getting off topic.

I work at a factory building fire places and I don't thinm were gonna shut down.... the front office is working from home starting tomorrow I believe. The bars and such around us have closed. I've been wanting to go to a neighboring town since they have Walmart and such to see how empty everything is. I'd like to get batteries and if I can find bread that'd be cool. I've got about everything else I'd need.

My wife said theirs a bird flu outbreak now in China so thats interesting.. if that spreads this would feel a little suspicious haha.

Not yet I'm saving them for when I think it's totally out of control and they lock down. Once the lockdown is in place I will use them because I'm keeping away from random people and just go to stores late at the moment.
