Hi, Currently got the blue snowball as my mic at the moment but thinking of an upgrade and wonder if anyone else has experience with these mics.

was thinking either a:

BLUE YETI

RODE NT-USB
or

something like an AT-2020 with scarlette solo

any ideas are welcome

Budget of about £170 GBP

AT-2020 is a flawless mic, been using the same one for almost 3 years and have had 0 faults. For an older mic like itself it surely does still compete with some of the top dogs.

I personally use a Blue Yeti, I have had zero issues and I have had it for over a year now. But it's best to get a pop filter with it, it will reduce to reduce or eliminate popping sounds.

at 2020, unless you can find a non usb version which i never personally seen, usb mics sucks imo compared to getting a cleaner audio from an xlr mic, depends what youll be doing.

but yeah id go with an at 2020

Rode NT-USB is barely different from a Rode-NT1 both are fantastic choices. BUT they are condenser mics. So if you're looking to hear yourself in crystal clear quality you will get it, but it comes at the cost of being able to pick up literally any noise and it's something you really want to look into with a Mixer rather than some a DAC or PreAmp.

I would lean on the Rode-USB for quality. AT2020 is definitely something to consider though. Depends on use case either way.

Want something to record vocals, voice overs, etc? Condenser is one of the best options to go for in mics. Want to reduce noise and get some great sound in? Dynamic. Best way to consider mics is: Condenser is for Music and Vocals, Dynamic is for Broadcasters and Noise Reduction.

Please don't be fooled into thinking a connector makes a difference in audio quality. This is not true. That said, the way that you process the audio would make a difference. For example, if it's going through an external device rather than your PC's inbuilt soundcard would indeed make a difference.
