Hi guys,
I'm looking at building a new comp for some average gaming and also editing like photoshop, but I'm unsure weather or not to wait till later in the year for new tech to be released. What's your opinion? Also I would like to try and keep the build as cheap as possible so I've been looking at using used parts. Aiming around £500 with used parts but can be about £750 with new.
What is your budget and currency? £500-£750 GBP
What will you use the PC for? Gaming/editing (Dota/CS/R6)
Do you need a monitor? If not, what monitor(s) will you be using? Will need a monitor but not in the costing for the build
Do you need a keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals? No
Do you need an operating system? Yes
Will you overclock? Depends
Anything else we should know?
Appreciate all your inputs

Oh no, don't buy. Avoid at all costs. Vanilla GTX 1650 is an absolute trash GPU. The GTX 1650 Super is a decent entry level GPU

Cheap crap motherboard with an 8C/16T CPU makes zero sense. At least spend a little more for a half decent budget AM4 mobo if you can't afford a higher end B450 board.

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor (£108.97 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: ASRock B450M Pro4-F Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard (£61.99 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory (£78.12 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Sabrent Rocket Q 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (£99.99 @ Amazon UK)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6 GB OC Video Card (£204.99 @ Amazon UK)
Case: Phanteks Eclipse P300A Mesh ATX Mid Tower Case (£50.99 @ AWD-IT)
Power Supply: Corsair CXM (2015) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply (£51.97 @ Amazon UK)
Monitor: ViewSonic VX2458-mhd 23.6" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor (£139.97 @ More Computers)
Total: £796.99

£800 including monitor. No idea how much you're looking to spend including monitor, since you never specified?

GTX 1660 Super is a significantly better GPU than a vanilla GTX 1650, and will be a decent pairing with the 1080p144Hz monitor.
An extra £30/35 will get you a better motherboard, and I'd personally spend an extra £40 for a nicer monitor since I hate TN panels.
Also, after that, if you can still add another 35 quid, you can up the R5 2600 to an R5 3600.

Thanks a lot 21. I was just looking at peoples opinions on a monitor and wasn't included in the pricing, that's purely for the build. I don't know a lot about PC's anymore so this is a great help. As I say I think I'm going to try and source used parts, so I may even have a little more to spend in other areas so I'll use you're comments on the upgrades as a good place to spend it

Well we'd really need to know your budget for the monitor. Or better yet, budget for everything including the monitor since you want to pair your system with a monitor that makes sense(and vice versa). I tried to stick as close to your £750 budget as possible with a reasonable monitor and system since you never gave us a budget.

I wouldn't bother right now. The used market isn't great currently, and you're not really going to save much money by buying used. You'll just end up with older components that perform similarly for potentially a slight saving, but I'd rather just buy brand new parts with full warranties for the sake of 50 quid or so.
Seriously, if you bought a used R5 2600+B450 mobo, you'd save like £30, maybe £40. For a similar GPU to the GTX 1660 Super on the used market, you'd be looking at a 1070Ti and most people are asking silly money for their old, used cards- I see people asking £200 for 1070Ti's still. At best, you'd save like £25 by purchasing a used GPU.

There have been times where the used market makes more sense than buying new, but not right now IMHO.

£200-£250 for a monitor as I will be using it for my Xbox too.
I got offered a Ryzen 7 2700 at £80 is what made me think about doing a used build so I could getting better parts but I totally agree with what you're saying buying new
