If you have the disc, launch the game of that normally, there's no real reason for you to play or install it to your HDD because it uses .xex for patches anyway, although if you really want it on your HDD.

then uninstall everything that is related to the game and then install it from either the disk or find a copy online, then in order to get the title update, straight up try and launch the game and do the update that it prompts you with.

If that doesn't work, well again make sure you uninstall the title ID and install from Aoura once more, double checking everything make sure that the one you're installing is patched. If you have mods installed, make sure you're using the TU that it comes with, because other wise you'll black screen.

by the sounds of it your TU is wrong or something is wrong on where it is installed or just in general, that's the only reason you'll ever black screen, have you tried to boot into " default_mp " is that what crashes or just the normal default?

Edit:

Chances are if you do not have the correct default_mp.xex and default.xex patched, then this would also be why you're black screening, so find all of those and make sure they're correct before hand.

So I deleted everything and installed the game and title update normally. Same result. I have no mods installed, and it should be a clean install of the game, considering it's a retail disc copy. Works TU0, not TU17.

I tried booting default_mp on hdd before I removed it and on the disc itself, no luck. Could it be an issue elsewhere on the console?

EDIT: Really have no idea, just tried TU16 and it works fine.
