Hi everyone, hope everybody has had a good Thanksgiving and all that. Ive been debating this post for a while but figured, why not. I got a lot of good help and feedback when I did my first build a couple years ago. Please bare with me because I am not super good with all of this.

Anyway after having my first gaming pc and playing a massive sh** load of games, Im looking to upgrade. I mainly play a lot of competitive R6, Fortnite and RL. As well as some Ark, MW, WoW, EFT, DayZ, among others. Would like to be able to stream these games and still get at least 144 fps, but 240 fps would be ideal(if i end up getting a new monitor see below.)

What is your budget and currency? USD and budget is as inexpensive as possible as work is currently slow so less hours. If just rebuilding it would be great to stay under 800-1000. If doing a full new build, would prefer to stay under 1600.

What will you use the PC for? Stated above.

Do you need a monitor? If not, what monitor(s) will you be using? No but I would like to find a 240 hz 1080p monitor if any good deals. I currently have multiple 1080p 60hz as secondary monitors and a 2k 1440p 165 hz as my main (but dont play comp games over 1080 to get best fps possible)

Do you need a keyboard, mouse, or other peripherals? No.

Do you need an operating system? No.

Will you overclock? No.

Anything else we should know? Not that I can think of atm.

My current build is:

CPU: Intel - Core i5-8500 3GHz 6-Core
CPU Cooler: CRYORIG - M9i 48.4 CFM
Motherboard: ASRock - B360M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1151
Memory: G.Skill - Sniper X 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400
Storage: Crucial - MX500 500GB 2.5" SSD
Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM HDD
Video Card: EVGA - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB
Case: Fractal Design - Meshify C TG ATX Mid Tower
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Not sure what the best bang for buck upgrades would be as I'm not good with this stuff at all. Anything I can reuse would be awesome but Im not opposed to a full new build. Figured with Black Friday/ Cyber Monday I might find some good prices and deals.

Also kind of in the market for a gaming laptop to play on the go, edit clips and what-not. Would like to have at least 120 fps. Laptop is not a super big need, but would be nice if anyone has seen any good deals. Wanting to stay under 800-1200 on this as well if possible. Once again though, the lower the price, the better.

If I am wayyy too cheap on expenses please let me know, I dont really know what to expect. Ive shopped around a bit but not sure what is compatible, what I should be looking for etc so trying to get some other opinions/input.

If you read all of this thanks so much, I truly do appreciate it. Im just a dumbass who really likes to game but needs all the help I can get when it comes to this stuff. Thanks again!

Don't bother with 1080p240Hz. Your 1440p165Hz monitor is definitely going to be better than that IMO anyway, and you already have it.

Just upgrade your GPU to something like an RX 5700XT or RTX 2070 Super and you'll see a massive increase in performance from your 6GB GTX 1060.

Should I do anything about getting a new CPU or more ram or any of that?

Thanks for the reply back!

I wouldn't, i5-8500 is still fine for 1440p165Hz and there isn't really a reasonable CPU upgrade without a new mobo. Maybe an i7-8700 if you can find one for a decent price(<$250). I'd just wait for a next generation socket at this point though tbh, whether it's from AMD or Intel.

AMD are supposedly launching next gen Ryzen in 2020 which might come with a new socket, like AM5. I'd be holding off for that at least, and then maybe consider a CPU/Mobo upgrade.

As for RAM, 16GB is fine. You can add another 2x8GB if you want, pretty inexpensive these days anyway at $50-60 for a 16GB kit. Been thinking of doing this myself just because RAM is so well priced compared to 2 years ago lol. It's really not necessary though IMO.
