Hi everyone, I asked two different people to create a custom PC for me with a $550 aud (~$370 usd) budget.
I want to use it for both video editing and gaming. However, I'm not very familiar with specs and need more opinions from others. Thank you guys in advance!

Option 1

CPU: i5 6600 3.30GHZ
RAM: GEIL 8GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 960 4GB DDR5 Asus Turbo
Storage: 120GB SSD HyperX 2TB HDD Seagate
PSU: 650W Corsair
CASE: NZXT Windowed Case - Black



Option 2

6 core 12 thread Intel core i7-3930k
500W PSU
Intel dx79sr motherboard
16gb ddr3 ram
120gb ssd 1tb hdd
RX 580 8gb
ATX Case

What I'm currently using right now to video edit is a Macbook Pro 2015. I can use it to edit videos just as long as I don't put the preview on full quality on Adobe Premiere. Much appreciated!

16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2 GB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I recommend a mix, such as choosing the RX 580 over the 960 regardless because it's cheaper and ore powerful, then I know Kingston has some pretty cheap 120TB SSD for boot drives because I don't think your board supports m.2 so that should work fine, with a limited budget there isn't much I can do for other recommendations but I can definitely tell you that an i7 3930k is close to $500 USD so idk who you had pick these parts but they're either selling you a knockoff, or something is wrong with it, and as for the i5 6600, that's more budget friendly but it's still around $200 USD which isn't leaving much of anything for other parts, and that's actually a 3.50Ghz, processor so either there's differences between hardware for different countries with the same spec, or something else fishy is going on there also.

Best bet is always, always, buy the parts yourself, and build it yourself, because people who do it solo like the two that picked the parts for these, they can pull things like this on others, such as buying a low spec CPU, passing it off as the high one, and pocketing the difference, because they'll assume you wont notice because you're having someone else build it, there's thousands of tutorials for building that make it so easy an idiot like me could figure it out, JayzTwoCents, Bitwit, LinuxtechTips, those 3 hit the top of my mind immediately, it's where I learned, never built a PC from start to finish until recently and my history with their videos made it easy, so it's always the best route to take. There are higher end system builders like Origin, CyberPower, but even there you won't find a PC with that budget as their builds are aimed at $1000 USD and up.

It's quite the mess, but honestly all I can recommend is saving up more, and building it yourself, but I recommend buying all the parts all at once, because you don't want to order a motherboard now and a CPU later and find out the motherboard was dead on arrival, and now it's outside the return window, then you'd be screwed, PC building definitely isn't cheap, but if you do it right, that PC can last you for years, and years, and then some.

No, it isn't. The i5-6600k has a 3.5GHz base clock speed. The i5-6600, non K is indeed 3.3GHz base. Both the 6600 and 6600k have a boost clock of 3.9GHz.

OP;
3930k system, hands down. More cores/threads with the CPU, and a much better GPU- the 8GB RX 580 is in line with GTX 980 performance. Also 16GB RAM as opposed to 8GB.
While the 3930k is fairly older than the 6600k, IPC hadn't improved all that much each generation and clock speeds are pretty similar. The extra cores/threads and 8GB RAM with the 3930k system is going to be much more noticeable than the IPC increase with the 6600.

He didn't say 6600k though, he said 6600 flat, but truthfully I'm not an expert on Intel, I've very rarely used Intel since I got into the whole PC area, but between the two I do have to agree with the 3930k and RX 580 combo, I used an RX 580 for years prior to my current build but upped it to a 5700xt currently, I know Nvidia has the powerhouse on GPU's, but AMD has always been my go-to lol
