It takes a lot of time and money. You should be prepared to do some things on your own because it is very expensive to hire people to do everything for you. (Stuff like re doing your grass and putting doors in and small stuff like that).

They have been building for almost 2 years now so it's been a very long project but it should be done in October. Finally.

Yeah see I thought about that too... some people have main things done like the framing and siding and then finish the inside. I'm capable of doing a lot. But I don't think we could afford rent and a mortgage so what was suggested is a company would do main floor and a bit more and we'd finish basement and such but yeah

They will be doing there basement later aswell. But they have been in a rental for a long time now, and it wasn't cheap. If I can grab some pics next time I'm over there I can try to post em for ya

TheFakeMrSneaky wrote Hello, has anyone had their house built rather than buying a house already built? My wife and I are looking into it and wanting tips.

It's for sure better to have it built that way it's to your design

My grandfather built his own house and they still live in it to this day which I always thought was cool.

I don't know how to build house in right way. I tried but it was something really awful. I was trying to learn and impoved my own building skills. Now I'm going to try it again. I want to start build a wood rent for first. We have a lot of trees around the house so I will take new saw for that. Hope my desire would bring success
