I was watching a gangster film and this debate came up of "Is it better to be loved or to be feared?"

I agreed with what the mob boss said. "It's better to be feared because fear last longer than love"

I really do agree with that and I personally would choose fear over love.

Hby?

I'm not a scary person and I don't wish people to fear me.
I would want to be loved

being feared would be the goal in that situation

Lets just say hypothetically that you're an important business man, one of the 1% on the top, you would want to be feared by others, you would want to show that you're ruthless and that, that is why you are where you are.

Even me in my own situation, I am a manager at a fast food restaurant, (not a big accomplishment imo, but still) I rather be feared by my employees rather than loved, because if they love you in that sense. you'll get walked all over and they'll think they can do whatever they want when they want. Fear is an important tool.

As a business stand point, feared.

As outside of work life, and into your personal life, loved.

I think a bit of fear is still required outside of business. Don't want just anyone thinking they can walk all over you.

But make sure you make it clear that outside stays outside(thats if you spend time with co-workers), lot of people tend to go soft after awhile and forget to set that reminder. Then they complain that all their co-workers walk all over them, when its obviously their fault, but that's if "fear" is their goal and not "loved".

That's just my opinion from work experience military and outside.

I'd rather be feared while alive and loved when I'm dead.
