I'm trying to post this on reddit but all my posts keep getting deleted so someone please copy and past this and get this on r/gaming, r/xboxone etc.
Throwaway account. Around noon today, someone in my phone group chat texted that they logged onto Xbox and their profile picture was changed to a creepy picture of Abraham Lincoln, but after logging in and out twice, it went back to normal. We brushed it off as a weird glitch and that was that. It wasn't until about 2 hours ago when we tried looking up the picture on google to see if we could find it. It seems that just in the past 24 hours or so, this has happened to a handful of other people. All the descriptions are the same. They log into Xbox and their profile picture has been changed, to what seems like some sort of creepy picture (Abraham Lincoln with red eyes, a pencil drawing of Woody Allen, a creepy looking cat with a yellow and orange eye, some lady with skull makeup). It seems that someone posted about this creepy Abe Lincoln picture over 1 year ago. [Minimum post requirement for links] Other than the handful of instances that have occurred in the past 24 hours, and the above instance of it happening over a year ago, I haven't found anything else. I am 100% calling this out as something more than just "a bug". If under the most innocent circumstances that this really is just a bug, somebody intentionally made it display these creepy pictures. As a loyal Xbox gamer for more than a decade, I'm not letting this slide. I, and I'm sure others, demand an official answer from Xbox as for the reason why some peoples Xbox accounts have had their gamer pictures changed to what seem to be some sort of creepy picture. Malicious or not, we DEMAND an answer! |

ngl, that's pretty creepy.
The Abe Lincoln one really got to me.I get a weary feeling just looking at the picture.. the bear is pretty unsettling too. |

| It happened to me too, I didn't restart the xbox though, I just kept trying to change my icon and it would automatically revert back. Finally it took the change and is back to normal. It didn't happen to any of the other accounts, just the one I logged in on at the time. |

I want to say these pictures are something they were going to release in a future update, but somehow their profile server **** up and got some values on avatar and gamerscores all messed up and it changed to some of these in some way. I don't know how their servers work, but it most likely isn't a security breach.
One of the developers replied to a thread and said they are working on finding out the cause of the issue. |
