I'm in the market for a new car. I currently have a 2017 Kia Forte with around 28k miles on it.

I'm not looking for anything flashy or specific.

I care m about gas mileage and upkeep costs more than speed/looks

$30k price limit.

2017 or newer

First off I hope that Kia is a lease and you are having to trade it in, if not just keep it.....

What's wrong with your Kia? Trading it in so new.

I own a 2016 Kia Optima SX and still love it and bought it right off the show room floor.

What's wrong with your car now? Kia's aren't really known for reliability, but I wouldn't worry about it until you get closer to the 100k mark.

Honestly if you want stellar gas mileage on a newer car for under $30k, everyone is spot on with the VW TDIs. I had a MK4 Jetta TDI and the thing was baller on fuel mileage.
