Ok so I have made quite a few posts before but now that I am close to being able to complete my build, I thought I should ask for advice before I dive in. I have a few questions that I would like answered so that it saves time and money in places that are not needed.

Question 1:
If I get the R7 2700X, Will it support the Corsair Vengence DDR4 3200Mhz RGB RAM at full potential? I am asking this because I have a 16GB kit at the moment which is 2 sticks but I do want to have 32GB soon after I have built my PC. I don't mind if it drops some speed because I need the RAM for Adobe PP, PS and some others aswell as games.

Question 2: Is the PSU that I have selected overkill for my components or is it alright or even not enough power?

The parts that I have already got are:
RAM (16GB)
7200 RPM HDD (2TB)

I will need to order all of the other parts which are listed in the image here:

The last thing I will need is the GPU. I have decided to get a second hand 1080ti that I will pay monthly via PayPal credit because I can't wait for my PC and I would rather just have it now (Plus there isn't any interest).

If you have any thought then please let me know. Thanks

I now have someone local selling an unopened Ryzen 7 2700X for £200 so I am going to get that asap.

I'm assuming you are buying another kit of the same 16GB 3000MHz Corsair RAM that you currently have? The RAM itself will be fine as that is also what I have and I have had no issues.

Depending on what price you can get the 1080-Ti for, it might be worth to just buy a new 2080; considering their performance is roughly the same but the 2080 is newer, and has RTX support, it would be a better purchase for the price-point.

The RAM that I will be getting is the same as the current RAM yes. I get what you mean about the 2080 being newer etc but it is more expensive and I won't be using ray tracing anyway as it drains FPS and I will be focusing on the gameplay itself in games and not the puddles and other minor details. I have a 1440p 165Hz monitor so I would like to take advantage of that so I think a 1080ti would be a nice fit for the price range that I have. I will be getting a used card which I can get between £450 - £500 that I will pay monthly because I won't have the money all in one go and I won't have to pay anything extra.

1. 200 quid for a 2700x is a pretty good deal to be fair. Worth remembering that Zen 2 launches in less than a month now, and we know that the R5 3600(x) should cost around £200 but single core performance will be vastly improved over a 2700x thanks to the "15%" IPC increase, and the clock speed bump (looks like 4.6/4.7GHz should be fairly achievable across the entire Zen2 line-up). So, in games, the 3600(x) is going to be noticeably better at 1080p/1440p high refresh rate(like your 1440p 165Hz monitor). At 4k and/or 60Hz, you won't notice much difference in games, if any. In Photoshop, you're not going to notice a difference but if you're editing/rendering large/high res video's fairly often, the 2700x could be a better option thanks to the extra cores/threads.

2. You will definitely be able to use your RAM. I can't actually remember if I bought the 3000/3200Mhz kit, but I have the same RAM- pretty sure it's the 3000MHz kit, and I run it at 2933MHz A-XMP no problems. So I doubt you'll have any problems running the RAM at 2933MHz at least.

3. The PSU is fine. Technically, you could get away with a good quality 450W unit, though I definitely wouldn't with a 1080Ti. 550-650W is perfectly adequate for the vast majority of single GPU systems. You'll only really need more than 650W if you're running an HEDT CPU and/or multi-GPU system.

Absolutely do not pay that price for the 970 EVO. You can get a decent 1TB SATA SSD for that price. Or, alternatively, the 500GB 970 EVO Plus is only a few quid more on Amazon;
amazon.co.uk/dp/B07MFBLN7K/?tag=pcp0f-21

I also wouldn't buy the H500i, there are better cases for that price IMO. For £70ish, the normal NZXT H500 is fine, but when you increase the cost of the case by almost 50% for some LEDs, it becomes piss poor value.

For GPU, £500 is a bit on the high end for a used 1080Ti at this point IMO, still a decent deal over an RTX 2080 though. RTX 2070Ti rumours were kicking about recently, could have been a good option instead of a used 1080Ti to be fair, but Navi pricing is such a disappointment IMO than NVidia might just not do anything to counter Navi, since they don't really need to. Still, NVidia are revealing something "Super" soon, so might be worth waiting to see? There are more benefits to the newer GPUs than just RTX cores for ray-tracing.

Oh, and for adding RAM, AMD CPU's do better with only 2 DIMMs. So if you're able to run your RAM @3200MHz A-XMP/DOCP, you might find that you have to drop frequency when you add another 2x8GB, so you might have to drop to 2933MHz(or lower) for stability with 4 DIMMs. Obviously, if you're going to benefit from the extra RAM, it doesn't matter so much but it is worth noting. If 16GB is sufficient for you, then I'd just keep it at that until you actually do need more.

Ok, I have already purchased the R7 2700X now and I feel it is a better option because I do a lot of editing in 4K because I often record footage with my drone. I have now changed the case to the H500 because you are absolutely right that half of it's price is just for some LEDs and they are not needed anyway since I will be getting RGB fans and a NZXT Kraken in the future. I have added the SSD to my basket as it is only a few pounds more and I'm getting double the storage.

The thing I am in debate with now is whether I go for a RTX 2070Ti or go for a 1080Ti. The plan for me is to find somewhere that offers a month to month plan so that instead of paying it all in one go, I can pay it monthly as I will have all of my other parts and I would be waiting months before I could even afford to pay in full. I was going to get a used 1080Ti from eBay and pay with PayPal credit monthly for 12 months as there is no added costs and it is easier for me. I don't know if I should wait for the 2070Ti or just get a 1080Ti because I want to get my PC somewhat soon because I have been saving for quite some time.

I appreciate the help and hope to hear back soon

So, it's just rumours of a 2070Ti currently. There are some other rumours, like a 2060 "Super" or what would essentially be a 2060Ti, as well as some rumours of price cuts. I honestly have no idea what NVidia are going to do at this point but they should definitely announce something about their "Super" teaser soon enough. I'd hold off for that announcement at least, and then make a decision on which GPU to buy. If it were me, and I were paying on finance over months for a GPU, I'd definitely rather buy something brand new rather than used.

The problem with waiting for the announcement is that it could happen tomorrow or it would happen next year so if I wait then I won't have my pc done for a while. I do want something new yes because not only has it never been used, it would come with warranty to ensure I am safe if anything happens. I planned to get the 1080ti because I would get it on finance and it is quite a powerful card which is what I need. There are many other cards that I could get but the 1080ti is probably the best card I could get that for what I need. If the 1070Ti was to come out in like 2 months then I would wait but it hasn't even been announced yet so it will probably be at least a good while.

No, definitely not. NVidia have already posted a teaser video on their YouTube which pretty much means whatever it is, is ready for release. Rumours were originally that something would pop up around E3, but obviously that has passed. Currently, rumours are that we'll hear more within a month, and that it will be an entirely new product stack. So, we definitely won't be waiting a year but honestly at this point, I just don't have any clue what NVidia are going to do- might not be any new GPUs, or price cuts at all. I'd just be aware and maybe hold off on buying a GPU until we know more, unless you're in a rush for some reason.

Especially since you're paying on finance, I'd be more inclined to wait and get a brand new, full warranty GPU, but if the system is being built within 2 weeks and you're not waiting, then yeah a used 1080Ti is probably your best shout since 2080's are still around the £700 mark, and again, NVidia themselves might make the 2080 essentially obsolete in a matter of weeks.

Ok, I will wait and in the meantime, I have put the CPU and RAM in my current PC. Once I have gathered the rest of the funds that I need, I will probably make the decision then but if NVidia release something worth while that doesn't break the bank then I will probably go for that.
