Alright guys, so recently I've been debating between two cars. First, a 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI, and secondly a 2019 Hyundai Veloster N, with the performance package. Over the weekend I had the chance to see the Veloster N ( preformance package ) in person at the dealership and I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with the Veloster N.

I've done a bit of my own research, Im just looking to see if there are any Hyundai owners on the site. Looking for opinions of the owners, not salesmen.

I'd appreciate if anyone could chime in with their experience owning Hyundai: Issues, ect.

I own two vehicles. A 2017 Hyundai Tucson and a 2018 dodge Durango RT. My wife uses the Tucson with our daughter the the dodge is mine however Hyundai gives you a lot of bang for your buck. By this I mean they have 10 year/100,000 mile power train warranty plus road side assistance. My wife loves the Tucson. Never have had a problem once. We have the Tuscon plus so it has blindspot, GPS and the panoramic su roof for my daughter. Once we get another vehicle for them. It will be another Hyundai. Now with the volester, it's a good vehicle but it depends where you live. If you live in an area where it's more rural with rougher roads or dirt roads then I would not get it as it sits very low and has the low profile tires and you'll bend the rim easily. The turbo version is quick as hell, my buddy has one.

At the end of the day it's your decision to make but both are good cars, the volester is cheaper though I'm pretty s

I have an 18 Elantra Sport which is basically the Elantra but with the Veloster turbo engine in it. First Hyundai vehicle but I was very impressed for how much you got for the price. Plus the rebates are insane on Hyundai / Kia vehicles, it's not uncommon to see $4000+ off MSRP over here. In terms of the Veloster N vs the GTI it's a no brainer for me since I'm kind of a Hyundai fanboy now, I've loved the Veloster since they started teasing it. GTI is starting at 27k and the N is 26.9k for the base. Even then you're getting another 25ish HP over the GTI, fantastic factory exhaust, 100,000 mile warranty, 60k bumper to bumper etc. Drop another 2k and you get 275HP performance package with the N vs the 228 in the GTI and it's not even a fair comparison anymore

At the end of the day people will hate the H logo and it for sure doesn't have the reputation a GTI does, but I'd jump on the N if I had the cash to do so. Who cares what other people think its a great car and as long as you like it that's all that really matters. They don't make the payments lmao

Thank you so much for the info!

My area has terrible roads, and the version Veloster I am looking at has an electronic suspension. That's really what worries me, I've lived here long enough to know work arounds to avoid the worst roads. I am hoping I can just take it slow if I do get the car. It also happen to be more than the GTI, for the performance package I want. Time will tell I suppose. Thank you again for the info, it's been a big help!

Yeah, I was blown away by what Hyundai offered compared to Volkswagen. It sounded so much better, and this being the first truly brand new car I buy, I'd rather have the best warranty possible.

When I sat in the Veloster N with the performance package I instantly fell in love. Not to mention the third door on the passenger side keeps it from being classified as a coupe on insurance while still having the feel was a huge plus. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be going with the Veloster N in the next few months. It's like everything I would want to do to the GTI if I bought it, the Veloster N already has. Absolutely no competition.

Thank you!

I had an older Hyundai Sonata as a beater and didn't have any luck with it. Currently driving a VW and haven't had any problems. A friend of mine has a brand new GTI and he loves it. I'd go with VW over the Volester but that's just me. The Volester looks ugly imo

The veolster n would be a great choice. They are fairly rare and will turn heads way more than the Golf.

The i30n Fastback will be up there in the top of my choices for my next purchase. Hyundai's have come a long way in the last few years and are great cars, if you're not a badge snob it's the one I'd probably choose too.

I got a 2019 Hyundai Elantra and I love it. The sport mode is great for pulling out fast or passing people.

I have a MK6 Jetta right now, I've replaced my AC Compressor twice. Although, that just an issue with my model year. I had a 05 Golf before that, I traded it in at my local VW dealership and they kept it for a shop car. I couldn't kill that car if I tried.

I test drove a Veloster, and I'm not tall at all but there is NO room in that car. Sadly, I think I may pass on the Veloster. Now I'm eyeing a 2019 WRX against the GTI.

The Veloster is goofy looking, but man that test drive was fun if only I didn't feel so cramped.

I agree, I pass GTI's multiple times a day in my town. The i30n isn't available in the states I believe?

The Veloster is so cramped, the i30n would be so much better. The i30n also looks much better IMO.
