Well I guess i have depression i was diagnosed in September 2018 and haven't felt right since idk what the hell is going on but my brain feels like cobwebs I cant concentrate cant think properly and quickly as I use to, I have complete and utter apathy to everything and everyone and dont find joy or pleasure in anything anymore like wtf is the point I think my brain shut down and is waiting for my body and self to do the rest. If you look up the mental shutdown theory of depression it makes sense your brain basically says enough is enough and turns everything off so you feel like a numb shell. This is why people commit suicide I see it now and this is exactly why people who aren't depressed call these same people "selfish" or dont understand or even refuse to understand because their brains have never been altered in such a drastic way that depression creates. This mental state is the worst low you can ever achieve and ever since I got it I can truly tell right away when somebody else has never been through it when I talk to them about it and it's like trying to explain the universe or something people dont want to understand depression who aren't depressed because well.. its depressing to them and realistic some say it's the true view of the world and that happiness and "feel good feelings" that we live for are basically distractions from the grey reality we live in basically our minds are lying to themselves. I've learned a lot about this since being diagnosed and i have a few turmoil that I think most certainly had a hand in this onset but I'm worried that I'll be like this for the rest of my life because I will not live like this for the rest of it and now after reading all that I just posted maybe you can get an idea of this illness and understand why it scares people that get it so badly that they take their lives thinking it'll never get better because that's what this illness does it robs of you of EVERYTHING including hope and motivation and willpower and replaced it all with apathy and numbness/sadness.

I understand ya man. I was just diagnosed with depression and stuff to with my personality. Like my fiance told me longest time I was get mad over something small or worry to much. Since then Iv been seeing a counselor. And most of the time i might 5% feel happy at times. I describe it as feeling a zombie dead inside with no emotions. And come to find out most of it was caused from my mom passing and she taking her last breath in my arms as I tried to save bee. Which with my PTSD hate that night that she took her last breathe and I did everything I could.... I keep everything bottled up for.many many years than o just finally cracked I can't keep it bottled that much anymore. I feel more better being on an anxiety med and seeing a counsler. Some people really don't understand in full and they laugh but they get it all hurting inside etc.. I think you and people like me fight everyday to be happy and try to live life it's hard.

Thank you for starting this topic. Mental health issues have maligned my family for ages. I myself have dealt with it since I was a child. The only thing I can say is that if you notice something is personally haunting you please tell someone. Anyone here that is struggling I wish you the best from the bottom of my heart.

Thank you for this post, depression and suicide is a serious thing in life and it's nothing to joke about, you don't know what someone is going through outside of the internet, school etc.

i went to a mental health conference on thursday and the topic was suicide. what i learned that suicide has been on the rise. Also fire fighters are more likely to die from suicide then on the job.

you can vist nami.org/ for info on mental health. Nami offers classes for people with mental health issues and also support groups.

During my middle school and highschool years I always suffered with depression. I always felt like nobody wanted me around, like I was a nuisance to everyone, but, I realized I have people who love and care for me and that's how everyone should feel. Life is hard and it will beat you to your knees. If there is anything I learned from watching rocky is that you shouldn't let anyone point a finger in your face and tell you you're no good, you gotta take the hit in life and plow through all negative obstacles! We all have a choice and that is to be better than the person that you were in the past. Like I said before suicide and depression is a serious thing but there is more to life than death. Things will get better, there is an abundance of greatness for everyone!
