I've been given a Phat PS3 running 4.81 OFW .. it's only 80gb
It's a CECH-K I don't know much about the whole jailbreak seen unless it's a IPhone .. but I really want to get into the PlayStation modding scene but I don't know where to start ?.. Is there any tutorials about how to and where to go from there or maybe a member of the TTG Community has any advice or experience in it who could help me out ?... I've been looking online at Rebug.com as a member suggested ... and I'm kinda stuck on where to go from there ... Few Questions : - Is it worth updating to the most recent OFW 4.84 , then jailbreaking it - does multiman and the installers come with the jailbreak files ?.. - is it worth jailbreaking it in the first place Any help is greatly appreciated , basically I'm looking for a mentor into the PlayStation modding world ... | You must e3 flash it to OFW 3.55, then jailbreak it to what ever you want, atleast that's what I did years ago, otherwise it will brick. check out rebug.me |

I had a 4.81 and a 4.82 CFW Ferrox File and when I went to install it , it finished and said it was corrupted ?.. and if I need to go down the E3 Flasher route , does anyone know where I could find a cheap one (if a cheap one exists ) or where to go about getting one |

on 3.55 OFW you can do it via usb, just slap any CFW on it, because its upgrading the firmware to a higher revision on CFW.
You can do it USB on 3.55 OFW to any, that's how I did my first ever OFW 3.55 Ps3 I did it 3.76CEX at the time, this was around 6years ago. 3.55 and you'll be completely fine, first time or not. Edit: read it up on rebug me for a 4.00+ firmware, im unsure, I wouldn't risk it, if you had a e3 flash you could do it straight away no issues, plus you could open an service once you're used to it, downgrading to 3.55 Is easy, and jailbreaking from 3.55 OFW to any is easier, its spoofing which sometimes get updated but it should be very easy now. |

Ok I'll look into it on rebug.me as you suggested , thank you for all your help ... as I stated I'm kinda stuck but didn't know which way to go with it so to speak ...
I'll look online now at E3 Flashers ... and try to find a tutorial for them .. |

Get a tutorial for the e3 flasher, but then u can do multiple consoles.
Getting them down to OFW 3.55 is KEY for jailbreaking. the original geohotz firmware for jailbreaking, until he got sued for making CFW years ago. Regbug.me offer great assistance (IF NEEDED) but I've cfw a ps3 from ofw when I was 14, and they're pretty brilliant to be introduced into the scene as there simple to mod, once you have installed CFW from the OFW 3.55, any update of CFW, u just need elite mossys patcher, multiman, rebugtoolbox (comes with cfw) and an spoofer, and then you're online, get you're menus and start playing. so: Downgrade to 3.55 Original firmware *with the e3 flasher Then Download CFW from Rebug.me then install the system update in settings through USB (NOT CONNECTED TO INTERNET YET) then let it install, reboot, patch *still not online* once its all done you have apps on the dashboard and then you can use elitemossyspatcher for a patched server IP (like RTM tools) then connect your ps3 online through the patched ip, download you're apps - multiman ect, you're good to go. |

I've just used a minimum firmware checker .. by IFCARO ...
and it said once it had run the check Update data of version 2.16 or later can be installed on this system (8002F967) I'm taking it as that's a good sign ?.. |

There is NO way to downgrade without an e3 flasher, these tools will brick you're ps3.
Edit: here is an old Hosting topic from 2014, when I used to host CFW ps3, all games. Archives/t=6947557/closed-scarlet...rvice.html so if you get an e3 flasher i'll walk you through it, start to finish. |
