This is my current build.
I'm looking for my next upgrade (Around GBP250)

I've been thinking about maybe a CPU but I'm not too sure. Any suggestions?

To add, even though it isn't in my budget, can anyone explain why the I7-8700K isn't compatible with my motherboard or is this an error on the site as both the motherboard and cpu use an 1151 socket

What are you looking to achieve with an upgrade? What does your system not do now that you want it to do?
What monitor(s) are you using?

Mainly I'm just wanting to be able to get better fps & quality in games and maybe speed up the computer in general.

As for my monitors I have an old 22" Technika TV and a BenQ GL2250HM

I'm wanting to get new monitors soon but that will be a part of a different budget. I'm currently eyeing up an i7-8700k IF it has a sale. Which might need me to buy a new motherboard

A CPU upgrade would be absolutely pointless if you want better performance in games. That RX 460 is holding you back more than anything else.

Your motherboard does not support an i7-8700k.
6th gen Skylake(i3-6100, i7-6700k) and 7th gen Kaby Lake(i7-7700k) are LGA1151, with 100 and 200 series chipset motherboards.
8th gen Coffee Lake(i7-8700k) and 9th gen Coffee Lake-S(i7-9700k, i9-9900k) are technically LGA 1151-V2, and require a 300 series chipset motherboard.

Since that RX 460 is holding you back, you'll want to upgrade GPU for better performance in games. You could grab a used GTX 1070 for less than £250 easily if you're comfortable buying used.

If not, RTX 2060 can be had for £320. If that's too out of budget, NVidia are supposedly announcing/releasing lower end Turing GPUs this week.

If you want to buy something new that's available right now, these are your options;

Thanks for the info! If I can get the extra money for that RTX 2060 you linked, would you recommend that over both the other two? And would it be better than the ones that haven't been released or announced yet?

You also mentioned about a used GTX 1070 but one of the links is a GTX 1070 Mini for £269, I assume mini isn't as good as regular?

The RTX 2060 would be a good option if you can afford it- around GTX 1080 performance with extra features.

The Zotac "Mini" linked is just the name of the cooler, because it's one of Zotac's smaller cooler designs. It'll perform the same as any other GTX 1070 within margin of error.

Can't say anything for sure about unannounced GPUs, but from rumoured specs it looks like we'll see a "GTX 1660Ti" which should be around GTX 1070 performance, maybe a little slower in some situations but should definitely be a nice increase over an RX 580/GTX 1060 6GB.

Since it's a lower end GPU than the RTX 2060, I'd imagine we'd see it at lower prices but at this point with NVidia, who really knows tbh.

Last I read was that the 1660Ti is supposed to launch this Friday at $279 MSRP. The 15th might just be when it's announced, or they might launch it with pre-orders on the 15th and ship a week later.
