i almost have all my pc parts in the mail for a CAD workstation i'm going to build for school, just waiting on my cd/dvd rom and my gpu lol.

this is the cpu liquid cooler that i have:
m.newegg.com/products/N82E1683535...1543689305

this is will be my first time building a pc that is liquid cooled so i have a few questions:

1. do i use tap water or distilled water?

2. am i supposed to use some special liquid for the cpu cooler instead of water?

3. it gets real cold in my house sometimes and i'm worried that i might have a power outtage when i'm gone at work all day and don't want to come home to a pc where the water froze, busted and then leaked the water everywhere lol. so my question for this is what would happen if i took some of that 50/50 antifreeze i use in my car, and put it in the liquid cooler instead of water? will it work? will it destroy the cooler?

and yes, i know that on the package it says very clearly that it's already pre filled with water. I'm just curious if it's tap water or distilled.

The colder the better. Don't use anti-freeze, that's a stupid idea. I very much doubt that the water in the loop is going to freeze unless where your PC is, it reaches zero Celsius.

It will be distilled water.

Tap water contains contaminants and that's something you don't want in a loop.

1 - You don't use either tap water or distilled water. You install the AIO and leave it be.

2 - No.

3 - No, it will not work. You can't just open up an AIO and put anti-freeze in it, regardless that would be a bad idea.

AIO's are not usually filled with water, they have some sort of pre-mix, usually differs a little from company to company but it's made to sit in storage in cold warehouses for long periods of time, so it's not like this sort of thing hasn't been thought of by manufacturers. Like Dan said, unless temperatures in your room are often at 0c, or below freezing, you're not really going to 'damage' an AIO to the point that it explodes water everywhere.
