Svn wrote Most of the trainings are ariels or more advanced shots. You also won't be able to dribble or flick. Best thing to do is get consistent at hitting the ball and work on boost/car control. A lot of low ranks completely miss a rolling or stationary ball due to a combination of not reading/tracking the ball, going too fast and boosting, then not being able to handle the car's speed which means they over or understeer.

I agree 100%. My comment is really once you have what you said down. Also, are you GC or GM?
I'm neither lol. How about you?

go straight into ranked and youll get good fast. I recommend playing against gold opponents when starting as youll be able to hit the ball in that rank however a higher rank player will make you improve the fastest

I would say just get use to flying with the training mode like most have suggested.
I hear its a lot easier on controller and I'm on PC playing with keyboard instead of syncing a controller over and I'm finally getting the hang of it after a month or so

Custom training games will help you a lot although most of the popular custom games will be grand champion level so they will only be beneficial for experienced players wanting to master their skills for top level.

My advice would be play unranked matches for a few days/weeks. Really get a feel to the mechanics of the game. It will take a while.

10,000 hours combined between all platforms. I consider this a huge milestone for me.

Anyway.

When I first started I was going around just smacking the ball. Not how it should be done.

You need to learn the mechanics. The faster you learn the better off you will be.

To learn this you need time, and practice. That is it.

Over time you will improve. I cant verbally tell you how to be better.

I can tell you not to challenge something while being the last back, But that wont help you land nasty shots.

Its literally a time thing. The more time you put in, the better you will be. Simple as that.

Only thing I suggest is playing free play, Doing training packs, and playing comp. But make sure you are warmed up first.
