Today I wanted to share 2 shows that I really enjoyed that are based in video game worlds the first show I wanted to talk about is

Sword Art Online now I really enjoyed the first season I think they did an amazing job at the time this type of show was a new concept to me so I do think that gave it a leg up for me in terms of how much I enjoyed it. SAO is an anime I think everyone should give a watch as I really think it helped me expand the types of shows I watch today. I remember staying home from school one day and watching this show on my moms UHD tv on Netflix and wow it really looks amazing visually in my opinion. I find the show definitely not lacking that much in the story I think it was well thought out but that being said in my opinion the show kind of goes downhill after the first season but I still think the show is definitely worth the time.

Synopsis

In the year 2022, virtual reality has progressed by leaps and bounds, and a massive online role-playing game called Sword Art Online (SAO) is launched. With the aid of "NerveGear" technology, players can control their avatars within the game using nothing but their own thoughts.

Kazuto Kirigaya, nicknamed "Kirito," is among the lucky few enthusiasts who get their hands on the first shipment of the game. He logs in to find himself, with ten-thousand others, in the scenic and elaborate world of Aincrad, one full of fantastic medieval weapons and gruesome monsters. However, in a cruel turn of events, the players soon realize they cannot log out; the game's creator has trapped them in his new world until they complete all one hundred levels of the game.

In order to escape Aincrad, Kirito will now have to interact and cooperate with his fellow players. Some are allies, while others are foes, like Asuna Yuuki, who commands the leading group attempting to escape from the ruthless game. To make matters worse, Sword Art Online is not all fun and games: if they die in Aincrad, they die in real life. Kirito must adapt to his new reality, fight for his survival, and hopefully break free from his virtual hell.

Next on my list is a show Mortar recommended to me a while ago that I really enjoyed also I don't see a ton of people talking about it as much as SAO anyway that show is Btooom! man this show is everything I love in an anime I really think it's an underrated show I binged this in about day and I just could not stop watching. I found the story unique ish I have not seen another show like it. I loved how the MC Ryouta's skill from playing the game transferred into the real-life version of the game but still had a bit of a learning curve in the beginning. I think they did a fantastic job on the show overall and I think you should watch it if you like these kind shows.

Synopsis

Ryouta Sakamoto is unemployed and lives with his mother, his only real achievement being that he is Japan's top player of the popular online video game, "Btooom!" However, his peaceful life is about to change when he finds himself stranded on an island in the middle of nowhere, with a small, green crystal embedded in his left hand and no memory of how he got there. To his shock, someone has decided to recreate the game he is so fond of in real life, with the stakes being life or death.

Armed with a bag full of unique bombs known as "BIM," the players are tasked with killing seven of their fellow participants to obtain their green crystals, used as proof of their victory, in order to return home. Initially condemning any form of violence, Ryouta is forced to fight when he realizes that many of the other players are not as welcoming as they may seem. Teaming up with Himiko, a fellow Btooom! player who turns out to be his in-game wife, they attempt to get off of the island together, slowly coming closer and closer to the truth behind this contest of death.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the shows I have listed if you have seen them and other shows like these that you enjoyed.

I watched SAO for the romance portion and was not disappointed with it.

Anime that ends up having a couple who have a child like Clannad or Darling in the Franxx pretty much end up getting really high scores from me. I dont know why I enjoy animes that portray this, but maybe it is the ultimate showing of love.

Back on topic, I have seen a few anime that have a "video game" dynamic to them. I am currently watching one.

I've only seen the first episode but if anyone is interested in romance anime like me but may also enjoy a "game" setting, check this anime out!
