I am looking into new graphic cards lately and I'm curious on if the GTX 1080TI or the RTX 2070 is the better way to go. As of now i have a 780TI so both would be an upgrade I'm just not sure what one would be the better buy? From what i seen they both come close in specs. Any info would be helpful!

The RX 2070 is a ~$550 card and the 1080ti is a $700-800 card, and the 1080ti therefore is a higher priced higher performing card. But the 1080ti might be overkill if you're just single monitor 1080p gaming.

I think the 2070 would be the better buy as it's gonna handle most anything you throw at it anyways, not to mention $200 price difference.

If you've got the budget for a 1080ti equiv card, the RTX 2080 would be a better comparison. If you're streaming, the 2080 would make use of a much improved video encoding core, but you've got to ask yourself if the extra money would be worth it to you. But I'd go with the 1080ti over the 2080 as of now, unless you want AMD flagship bragging rights I suppose

both cards are around the 500ish mark for me GBP wise so personally the 1080ti is a better bet..idk if its different elsewhere but i dont think it should be much different

GTX 1080Ti's are not £500.

OP - GTX 1080Ti = same performance as an RTX 2080.
The RTX 2070 performs on par with a GTX 1080, so the 1080Ti is absolutely a better GPU but it's also in a different price range from the 2070.

Which is the better buy? Depends, we don't know your budget, currency, the rest of your specs, your monitor(s), or what you'll be using your system for. So we obviously don't know which would be the better option for you.

Comparing used/pre-owned cards to unboxed new cards, can't tell if sarcasm or not though.

there are both negatives to each option but if you wish to spend more money for better reliability then a new GPU would be a better option but if you wish to get second hand and save money then go for it but there are a slim chance of the gpu being faulty which rarely occurs

Yeah, that's eBay. eBay is a place for people to sell pre-owned items, were you not aware? You don't compare the price of a used product to another completely new, unboxed product. The GTX 1080Ti is still a £600+ GPU. I'm sure I could find a used 1080Ti for £163;400 if I looked hard enough, doesn't make it a £400 GPU just because I found one used for that price.
