What is your budget. $300
Do you need a monitor no
Do you need a keyboard? No
Do you need a mouse? No
Do you need an operating system? Windows
What will you use the PC for? College and to just play fortnite
I know this might be a long shot since he only has $300 but thanks

Not going to be able to get a laptop in that price range that will run a new game like Fornite at any decent framerate.

For that price range I would just get a T420 off ebay and do an SSD/RAM upgrade. Would handle any other day to day college stuff (outside of Gaming/GPU intensive tasks). If not that, and $300 is the absolute max budget, look into a Chromebook, which is more affordable and will also handle word doc/web browsing, but be useless for anything like fortnite.

Hi Scizor,

$300 is doable when talking about games like fortnite. You will definitely have a harder time with more gpu/cpu demanding games but for casual use and fortnite I can recommend the lenovo g50. It is capable of running fortnite at a minimum of 30 fps and that is all you need! 60 would be nice but it is not necessary especially for a $300 budget.

I left the link below to the recommended laptop:

I'd like to see a 4+ year old APU getting even 30FPS in Fortnite lol. If you drop the resolution to 720p and every single setting to it's lowest, then sure, you might just about break 30FPS. However I'd definitely argue that 30FPS is not acceptable in an online competitive game.

OP - If you're set on a laptop, and want to play games, invest in a laptop with a discrete GPU, like a GTX 1050 or 1050Ti. These are gonna be $500-600 at least new though. That said, if you look hard enough, I am certain you'll be able to find a used laptop with a GTX 1050 in the $300 range.
