Does anyone know what the price would to re-seal a head gasket on an Audi A3 2005 (1.6).

Is this gonna be pricey? I've heard it can be lol.

I'm in the UK btw.

I've never encountered making this repair surprisingly. If you have parts in hand, your just looking at labor costs which varies by shop. A head gasket can range from anywhere from $65- $400 depending on who you buy from. Im not sure what the price conversion is. GL in your repair! If you have a pic of your A3, I'd love to see it.

If you can just put sealant in it won't be very exspensive.

Edit: if the person has the parts already then just find a shop with reasonable labor hours. That's what you're going to be paying them.

Wow the styling and the color is amazing. You made a great choice. They don't market the A3 in the U.S. as a coupe, so I'm kinda jealous now lol

its gonna be expensive, any head gasket change is,you will have to get the head skimmed after taking it off, then its gotta be cleaned and he bolts put back on in the right order and the right torque, this cant be done at home with basic tools,a local garage will charge a days labour and the gasket kit alone is over 100 quid,id say your looking in the region of 600 quid from a local garage.around 1500 if you go to audi direct

you cant just seal a head gasket,to even try and do this you would have to take the head off,if that has to be done then may as well get it done properly, personally i would just walk away from the car,,sounds to me like its had a hard life already

i didnt read that the owner already has the part, here is the bad news,no garage will put in your own parts on something this important, this is because they cannot guarantee the work as they dont know where your parts came from, its on on things like exhaust, body panels or minor things like air and oil filters but clutches, gaskets and bearings are a different matter, they wont touch them in case anything goes wrong so they will open them up to be sued so dont let the fact they have the spares be sa selling point,do yourself a favour and walk away from the car, there are 100's of a3's around
