Hello everyone! This is long overdue but I wanted to share some fun news about me! For the past few months my activity as a staff member has been lacking slightly because I was doing clinical work to become licensed through the state to administer medication through DHS 83.

A certified medication aide is a certified nursing assistant (CNA) that has completed additional classroom training to be certified to dispense medications to patients while working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Training is usually 4 months, and includes 140 hours of supervised clinical practice.

I work closely with pharmacists, clinicians and nurses to chart how residents are doing with their medications. I am licensed to provide injections by needle and I feel really proud of this as I am responsible for morphine injections on my floor and oversee CNAs quality of care. I love my career path and helping people who are in pain. It's my goal to understand how medications work in your body and how they interact with each other.

It is also kind of scary as I am in charge of administering a lot of different narcotics, sedatives, antipsychotics, etc. These injections can be lethal and I could easily cause an overdose. I have learned so much about medications and their ingredients this past year that I am having dreams about them in my sleep haha. I guess that is how you know you love what you do right?

Anyway, I will be much more active as work dies down and I go back to school again! Happy Sunday!
