Please forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

So yesterday I decided I was going to do a fresh install as things were starting to slow down so I ordered myself a 250gb WD Black NVMe SSD.

I made a brand new install drive with a brand new memory stick and removed all my existing drives. Installed Windows onto the new NVMe and it booted perfect.

I used ninite to install a few programs then I started to get warnings about a Trojan, checked malwarebytes and nothing came up but windows defender kept popping up with threats.

I have removed the NVMe and put my old drives back in and all is good.

What should I do with the new drive?

What would cause this? And how would I actually remove it? I don't want to just stop windows defender popping up just incase it's genuine

You think ninite could have caused this?

Will do a format once I'm back home

I've never heard of it so couldn't say. But just install stuff from the developers websites. If nothing else at least you're getting the latest versions.

I'd do a scan with Windows Defender and see what it picks up. You should be able to see it's location so you will know what caused it.

It could be a possibility that when you downloaded the programs via ninite, it installed the extras that comes with some programs. I've not seen this happen before but it's possible.

Where does it say the virus is? Take a screenshot of it and show us

Send a screenshot of what it says. It'll be more help.

Where did you get your Windows image from? Was it direct from Microsoft?
