Gameplay
Phases is a unique puzzle arcade game that I've never seen anything like it before. The aim of the game is to get through different stages, you control a continuously bouncing ball where you must make it move forward to get over, under and around obstacles. The elements in the game are conveniently color coded, anything that is white is fine to touch with the ball, but anything that is black will make you lose the second you touch it. The first stage starts off by letting you get to know how the game works, especially with the white-black concept. It does this by blocking your path with a stack of white boxes, your only path is forward so you have to push through the boxes, short after there are a line of black posts that fall from the ceiling, hurrying you along. One thing that is different about this game to most of Ketchapp's other games are the fact that there are no additional points/currency in-game, I feel that this could have been added and maybe used to unlock more stages. I really like this game for the way that the stages are put together, some of them have moving black, and white parts which will aid you and harm you, some of them make you rush through them or you will fail whereas some of them let you take it slow, at your own pace. These sudden changes in speed and tension really make the experience better as you have to constantly change from one mindset to another.

Graphics
The graphics in this game are very flat, this quits the game well and looks better than it would if the graphics were 3D in my opinion. The game has a very particular color scheme to it as already mentioned, anything white can be touched, whereas black cannot. Black is often symbolized as darkness or death, this is apparent in the way that you lose straight away by touching the color. Other than the black and white areas the game is quite colorful, each of the stages have their own color scheme, the first stage has a foreground light blue color with shapes cut out of it where you can see a background of dark blue, this is a very nice effect and almost makes it seem like the game is made out of paper.

Audio
The audio in this game is what you would expect of any similar game, music in the background, sound effects for different events that happen in the game. This game meets that criteria exactly. When you are at a menu, not playing, the game is silent. As soon as you start a game, a techno tune starts playing. One thing I don't like about it is when you lose and start again, the song starts again as well. I would much prefer it if it was continuous or if there were different songs that played on rotation as it gets pretty boring hearing the same 20 seconds over and over again. The only other sound effect that I can find is when you touch a black object and lose, the music fades out and it goes silent. I would like it if there was a sound that plays when you bounce, but it is not a major flaw.

Controls
The controls in this game are very fitting and exactly what you would expect them to be. When you are moving the ball, you can go forwards and backwards. The controls? Tap in front or behind of the ball to move in the respective direction. These controls work very well and I can find no problems at all to them. The only thing I would suggest is that maybe the backwards control is taken away as this would make the game that ever bit more challenging , however there may be some points in the game where you need to ability to move backwards so that proposal could have some issues. As the ball is continuously bouncing and you have no control over it, you have to be able to time your movements really well to get past some of the trickier places in the stages.

Seems like a similar puzzle game I've played before, most of them are all alike some how. Great review dude, sounds like a fun game.

Great game and review, many people say this game has a few levels that are impossible but it's just reAlly trial and error, completed it within a few hours. It could do with more levels, fun gameplay overall though.
