So I have been offered a job as a food delivery driver for Sainsbury's. It pays basic pay of £8.50 an hour with a 39-hour contract but you can do overtime if you like. At the moment I work doing security at film studios and I like the job and love the people I work with and can F about and have tons on banta. I have been working there for 3 years doing night shifts, but really wanna go on day shifts so I can do more stuff with my family. So basically we have shows on such as Big Brother, Strictly Come Dancing, Love Island, 101, League of there own etc, also they have the Netflix show The Crown filming there but im nothing to do with that but still pretty cool to be around that environment. Anyways, we normally have 3 big brother shows a year, like the summer one we have coming up, is for 3 months. When the shows are on I can earn as little as £500 to as much as £750 per week, which in my books is decent money. It is only £8 an hour which sucks so you basically have to do alot of hours, so won't have much time with the family as such, but I could then save for a nice holiday at the end of the shows etc. So when there are no shows on we call that downtime, which means there are fewer shifts as they drop guards. This means less money. I am self-employed so I don't get any sick pay, holiday paid, and I have to do my own invoices and taxes all the bull shit lol, which is a bit long. However, my boss at film studios said he's gonna try to get me on the books, which pays £8.50 an hour, but ill have the tax all paid for and I get holiday pay etc. So my idea was, and I did speak to my boss about it today, for me to do night shifts when the shows are not on, which I would prefer because its a F about on night shift lol. And ill do day shifts when the shows ain't on so I can spend time with my family. So when the shows on, as I mentioned before we drop shifts to 2-3 shifts a week, that ain't enough to support my family, so my idea is to buy a van and work with Amazon or any delivery for that matter and do 1 or 2 shifts with them while still working at the film studios. The van driving would be self-employed so I can choose when and when not to work. I do find it hard to fit in a new job as I have a very aggressive, cocky, rude attitude, which has got me fired from at least 10 jobs. I joke and prank around alot and some people don't get me lol, so it takes ages for me to fit in anywhere. I do have ADHD so maybe that's a reason for my strange behaviour I don't know. So what do you guys think I should do?

tbh imo, i would stay with your current job and get yourself a van and work for yourself. Especially if your boss is gonna help you out with that extra .50. But having your own van and delivering is actually not a bad job at all. Just make sure you know what you want to do before you jump to it. Better yet just go with your gut. What do you think will be best for you? quitting your current job and going to a new one and basically restarting for .50 cents and having to work your way up. (may take long depending on how big the place is.) or would you want to stay where youre at until your boss figures something out and then get your own van and start something yourself when you have time and are able to deliver? sorry if this is kinda confusing kinda busy right now but thats my thoughts on it.

Also like you said save up for the van, and do the books. You can basically make your hours around your family time, so it's a win win. Your getting the pay you need/want, and your getting to spend more family time. imo don't take the new job stick with what you've been doing for 3 years. Your experienced at it and the books job makes up for the extra .50. And with the Amazon you'll be making extra cash on top of your pay your already getting, Thank about it you'll be making make money staying with your new job and getting to make your hours around the family.

Thanks for the post man, I'm happy with what you said. The place is really small and only has 9 drivers lol, so don't think anything ever gonna come of it with that job, to be honest. As you said ill just be restarting for nothing if I get on the books anyways lol Thing is i have no freedom at this new job because im new, its 5 days a week as well every week. With my current job its easy to book shifts of, just have a chat with my boss who is also a mate, with I wont have my new boss as a mate lol.

+200 rep cuz i loved your reply thanks again mate

Thanks for your reply man, yeah might do the saving for the van and still work at flim Studios, but i have an interview on 15th now for a security supervisor role £10.25 an hour, so if that goes well, ill say bye bye to the rest lol.

Hm, its tough Mikey.

The work your doing now seems pretty cool and if its making you happy then you need to weigh out te pros and cons.

Sainsburys sounds good but it could be boring in the long run and get really bored of it!

Do what makes you happy, you seem a great guy!

I worked for sainsbury, and currently work for asda. sainsbury they are currently merging with asda and the contract you've been offered will be forcefully changed to the current new contract for asda which is awful.
