Ive been going back and forth for a while about doing a custom water loop and i am going to. I currently have an AIO which is cool and all but i think a custom loop will just all around be better for my system. Ive done my research about tubing, fittings, pumps, tubing, etc...But one thing i cant figure out is the best way to set up your loop. Since ill be a 'beginner' im starting small and only cooling my CPU for now and whne i get more confident ill eventually cool my GPU as well. But my question which is the best way to set up your loop. reservoir > pump > radiator > cpu > reservoir OR reservoir > pump > cpu > radiator > reservoir. My thought is the second loop. Let me know which is better or if you have a better loop!

eddiesax wrote Water has a very high specific heat, so it can absorb a lot of energy before its temperature raises at all. This is why the order doesn't matter, the water acts as a heat reservoir and not as a heat sink.

As eddie said, loop order doesn't matter because of the way water absorbs heat. The only thing that matters is if your pump can move the water and that your loop doesn't have any leaks in it.

The water absorbs heat, and as long as your pump is moving the water around when the warmer water gets back to the res it will dissipate heat. The thing I have always focused on is ease of cleaning and pathing for my loop. Best of luck!

No problem, man. Got to start somewhere and if you don't know you have to ask. I watch JayzTwoCents and LinusTechTips and ScienceStudio and all them as well. They know a lot more than most of us because they do what they do for a living and work in it everyday. If I'm not mistaken I think Jay has a couple of semi-recent videos talking about loop order and how it doesn't really matter as well. I will try and find it and link it in case you haven't watched it.
