Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

Game Information

Publisher: Activision
Modes: Singleplayer, Splitscreen, Multiplayer online

Content Rating: M

Overview
A complete remake of the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, remastered for the original fans with today's graphical enhancements. Just like the old Modern Warfare, players will experience the immersive first person fight as both an S.A.S Hero Soap MacTavish and USMC Soldier Sgt. Jackson, against both the Middle-East separatist and Russian Ultra-Nationalist in a very deadly war with nuclear weaponry at stake.

Gameplay
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was a personal hype for both my eldest Sibling and I, as this game was a representation of the great times we shared when gaming together on the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The Developers have really pressed the 'Bring back Fun' button with this game and I'm glad they did because they enhanced it to an amazing level and have made it just about three times better than the original by introducing new online game modes, weapon skins, ranks, character customization, maps, oh and did I mention enhanced graphics?

Campaign mode; the campaign on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is no different to the original game and the plot, however the obvious graphic improvements. I'm glad they stuck to the original plot as most remastered games do and didn't try to fill any 'holes' or add any extra missions, as the game wouldn't be so much of a 'True Call of Duty experience' had it been any longer, there is of course a now discovered die-hard Modern Warfare fan easter-egg in the game which had me amazed! View content below to spoil the easter-egg:

You can kill Makarov and stop both MW2, and MW3 from ever happening!

The campaign follows the story of two main characters as stated in the overview, however the player will find themselves playing the role of 'Capt. Price' in the 'All Ghillied Up', and 'One Shot, One Kill' missions which in my personal opinion are the best two campaign missions out of the entire Call of Duty series. With a total of 21 missions, each being amazing and very movie-like the player will not find themselves bored, however the campaign should not be spoiled to any virgins of the game as it is a must play if you are impressed by a true first person Modern Warfare experience, so I suggest if you're further interested in seeing the full campaign, Play it or Watch the video below:

Multiplayer Online; for the classic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players I'll be happy to tell you that none of your favorite game modes have been deleted! but instead much more fun ones have been added. Prop-hunt, on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered prop is a fun game-mode which has a lobby of 6-12 players (3 vs 3, 4 vs 4 and so on...) either hide on a map as an in-game prop (Items such as traffic poles etc) or as a normal soldier, who seeks to hunt and kill the hiding props. A very fun game mode however my personal favorite would have to be the Weekend Warfare game mode 'Slasher', where one player hunts down a lobby of hidden players, occasionally a rough and long game as most players still exploit glitches. These game modes plus the many others offered online are a fun experience but sadly the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered player base is dying and finding a lobby might be considered hard. Character customization has been introduced into the game and is actually a pretty nice feature to allow players to have some sort of individuality when playing against others. This does not come free of course; the player must 'Grind' for 'Depot credits', a in-game currency which is used to buy crates that contain items such as new characters or camo's. These crates can be purchased with 'COD Points' the cross-game currency used in most Call of Duty's today however I personally do not recommend this as gaining 'Depot Credits' is a simple and fun task. The usual weapon customization is still in-game with a few extra camo's but nothing too exciting to be touched on.

DLC; the only DLC available for purchase is the: Variety Map Pack for $14.99 USD. It contains four maps, and I'm going to stop myself right here to personally warn you not to buy it! I purchased it when it was first released, after two weeks the special playlist created for it was gone and the only way to play the maps is either in a private game or in a public lobby where everyone has the DLC and votes to play one of the maps. Which never ever happens. I highly (and personally) suggest you do not purchase this DLC if you're looking to play the maps included online.

Controls
The controls in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered follow those of all Call of Duty games. Left stick to move, Right stick to look, Right trigger to shoot, Left trigger to aim and so on... not really anything to be touched on here except for the different button layouts the more 'Advance' players can use to enhance and suit their play style.

Graphics
The best improvement of the entire game! the Developers didn't fail to enhance every inch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered with fresh graphics which made the original game look like you were this version on low quality. Picture below is a screenshot from the mission 'One Shot, One Kill':

The enhancements amazed me as I really feel they didn't waste their time when remastering this and instead chose to release a perfect redo of the original giving it a modernized feel when playing! The graphics improvement was mostly noticeable on the 'Aftermath' mission on the campaign. Picture below spoils the 'Aftermath' mission in the campaign on both the original and new game, I personally suggest you do not view it until you have played this mission so you can see the difference between the old and new version of the game, Old on top and New below.

Nice review, this game had a lot to live up to, remastering one of the best Call of Duty's was never going to be an easy task, and it showed. The game was too much like Ghosts, the UI, the sounds all of it. And for that it felt unrefined and just not finished.

Had great potential, but they ruined it in my opinion.

I bought this on release, played 3 games and never went back. I recently started playing it, as I sweat out ww2 and got good so enjoyed the MWR more as I wasn't so bad as I use to be and I must say I'm finding it really enjoyable. Even though it's so dead, it's a good game. Not that different from the OG, I didn't play ghosts so can't comment on that behalf. I wish they kept the supply drops out as most of the guns that I have picked up from them are super OP

Good review also. I rated it 7

I would give it an 8/10. The game was fun but supply drops sorta ruined the classic game.

I agree with Famous, I'd also give this an 8/10.

The graphics have been refreshed to meet todays expectations and it still plays like the classic Cod 4 on the old generation consoles. I would have preferred it without the addition of new weapons and supply drops although this certainly hasn't ruined the game.

Really well put together review my guy! I gave it a 7/10 Mainly because of the nostalgia but the fact that they charged for DLC, and added new weapons and supply drops really ruined the game for me

10/10 on the review bro.

But i'd give the game a 4/10, it feels nothing like the old Cod, and they ruined it with supply drops.
