A Way Out's Friends Pass was originally mentioned back in December 2017 which would, as the name suggests, allow a friend to access and play the game without actually owning the full game as long as one person owned the full game. Well, now it has been announced that the Friends Pass will go a step further in terms of generosity and will not have a limit on how many friends can make use of the system which is incredible to think. Whilst this has only been referenced for the PC version of the game through the Origins platform, there is hope that this will also apply for both console versions of the game.

A Way Out is a split-screen, joint experience where two players will take on the role of Leo and Vincent; two prisoners with the same goal in mind of breaking out from prison and evading authorities as to earn their freedom.

For an indie game it seems like quite a nice idea, for example having both players taking on different tasks at the same time to work together and achieve their goal rather than being stuck together completing the same tasks. It is said that because of this that the two players will progress differently which can result in a player watching cutscenes whilst the other is still playing and completing a task. And with a somewhat short storyline taking up to 10 hours to reach a conclusion, it means that players will be more likely to replay the story either as the opposite character, or by taking a different route to complete an objective.
