Recently I've been thinking a ton about the earth, galaxy, universe, etc.

And while I was doing that I started to wonder how we ended up on this little planet in a giant universe. It delves into the thought of aliens and all that weird stuff.

But really, have you ever thought how we got here? How the earth was created? Hell, how was the universe created? Could the big bang theory be real?

All these questions branch off into multiple conspiracies, contrasting between science and religion/beliefs.

It really messes with your head once you zone into that thought, it's kind of scary.

I want to hear your thoughts on this, feel free to post some opinions.

This has confused me nights after nights when I just lie down and think about stuff like this. I really dont have any answers either. I think about it and it just scares me and confuses me a little bit man.

I do believe in God and all of that kind of stuff. So I can see it from that point of view but then there is the science point of view and the big bang. I have no clue man It is confusing me right now thinking about it xD.

I do believe in Life outside of earth for sure though man.

Standard, boring answer I usually give for this question:

The big bang was responsible for the creation of our Universe, and if not the big bang then something similar - evolution, and our continued insistence on inflicting life upon future generations is why we exist. Where in the Universe we exist is superfluous - it doesn't matter where we are in relation to the trillions of other useless things and why we exist as a species is as easy to understand as why a computer does what we tell it to.

The only two reasons why people act like this is a difficult question to answer is either because the real answer is repulsive to their nature or because they don't have the imaginative capabilities to imagine a world where they are not only not special, but not worth anything at all.

Less standard view, not my own, but very interesting and novel in my opinion:

Phillip Mainlander was a German banker during the 1800's.
He invented something called the 'Philosophy of Redemption' which is in itself very interesting but not really relevant here.

As a small part of this philosophy he created a version of the typical monotheistic creation myth which better explained and reflected the current state of our world.

Mainlander was a very strong philosophical pessimist, so he envisioned God with not only the good and happy aspects of his personality that we all know from modern day religion, but the horrible aspects too. If God is capable of anything then why wouldn't he be capable of reaching the greatest depths of desperation and loneliness imaginable?

So Mainlander imagined that this God, in a fit of loneliness and desperation, committed suicide by shattering himself - big-bang-like - and that the Universe formed from the remains of that God.
The Universe right now is in its early days, it still has form and function, but slowly, like a decaying corpse, it will become less beautiful, less structured, and colder until eventually the universe will suffer the same fate as everything in it- death.
