Well I got a used xbox 360 S a while back and it came with some games that were pretty scratched up. I cleaned up the system and tried the discs and to my surprise a few of the games actually worked, but most did not. The system even though previously abused seemed to work okay. I was testing it playing COD 3 which itself was badly scratched, but worked no issues. I then tried MW2, and MW3 and both played however I did get MW3 to stop playing from time to time with unreadable disc error. About a week ago I tried a couple other games I got which are in almost flawless to fair condition. Forza Horizon was the first, and even though there are minimal scratches at best I immediately got the unrecognizable disc msg and error 03-57-00. I then tried Halo 3 which is in pretty clean shape and get unreadable disc. I then tried GTA IV which has very minimal light scratches. It loaded the first time goes through most of the intro and then audio goes out as you're leaving the ship. I restart and it just cycles through the character pictures, but goes unreadable after that. Okay so I pop COD 3 back in, it loads fine, plays fine, but now I notice my saved game profiles are corrupted, and my avatar is back to factory reset. I was thinking disc drive, but some really scratched games play flawlessly, and clean ones won't play at all or crash. Could it be hdd, dd or both? I was hoping that it was just dust on or around the lens. Just really strange to me how it's going down. Thanks in advance for any help. I know that some will say just buy a different 360 but I need to work with what i have for now.

Okay, thanks. Do you think it may also be the hdd due to the sudden corrupt profile issue?
